What are you talking about? You sign contracts in most jobs, that doesn't mean you can't leave.

With or without a professional contract Cesc has the option of saying no.
But Barcelona don't.
What happened to a free choice of employment?
What should have happened is this
Arsenal offer Fabregas a contract when Barcelona can't, he has the free choice to leave Barcelona and go to Arsenal
If want him, they offer him a contract for their team, if he prefers it, he has the free choice to leave Arsenal and go back to Barcelona. Arsenal should be free to offer him another contract, to match or better Barcelona's terms, but they shouldn't be allowed to force him to stay against his will.
The point of the contract is to keep the person employed for the time you specifiy under guidelines, why should we have a contract in the first place then? He had the choice to let it run and happily join Barcelona with his choice except he extended his stay at Arsenal
Please do go on once more

Well I was only 16 and then The Sun came and said I could write full time for them because they were so shite when it came to my position on their writing team. If they continued to be shit for 8 years, declining, and the old paper decided I was ready to write for them, The Sun shouldn't be allowed to keep me there, even if I am by far their best writer.

But the paper won 4 awards from 2000 and 2004, runners up 3-4 times, and had a fabulous year when they signed you, infact every article was unbeatable (You like what I did there) sure, years after we started to decline, however, you are part of a bigger picture, and to get the paper back on track it may take a year or two, but would you rather not be key in one paper, than to be in the background of another?

If I do want to go and sign for the more prestigious newspaper though, (it happens to be based in my hometown) it's none of The Sun's business what my position will be there, whether I'll be the star writer or whether I'll be writing every week, that's my problem, and The Sun shouldn't be able to stop me just because they want to keep me as the star.

However, they want to keep you as they made the former paper recognize the writer you are, without that paper, the old one may not even be wanting you back.

Perhaps Barcelona didn't want him at the time, or he felt Arsenal would respect his wishes if he wanted to leave instead of screwing every penny they could get out of him. You can't honestly think it's right that anyone is forced to stay in a particular job against their will, surely?
