Why does Capello insist on playing Rooney Empty Why does Capello insist on playing Rooney

Post by crump Thu Oct 14, 2010 4:31 am

I mean seriously, I know he's out best player, or supposed to be out best player. But, my Nan - who for the record has two metal hips could of made more of an impact in the last few games Rooney has played for England. Yeah he might get an assist here and there but he should be scoring goals. I for one think Capello hasn't got the bollocks to drop his little golden boy. By keep playing him every England match with Rooney not doing anything isn't going to help, Capello needs to man up and replace him until he gets into form.

I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but... discuss?

Who else did we have avaliable last night?

    Davies Neutral

And in the last 2 games, Rooney played a part in all 4 goals against Bulgaria, and scored in Switzerland.

Yeah, you have a point with Kevvo D. Did he score in Switzerland? Hmm... So he did. Anyway, it's got to be said, like in the World Cup. But, then all my blame just seems to edge towards Capello. I think he's useless.

Wouldn't call Capello useless. His record anywhere as a manager speaks for himself, even with England. Played 13 qualifyers, won 11, drew 1, lost 1. Only lost once this year- we just had to pick to do it against Germany Neutral

But, he doesn't have a clue how to speak our language, and he's ridiculously stubborn. He's gone back to the 4-4-2. Yes, it's ok in qualifying against the "smaller" nations, but when we get to the tournaments, we get ripped apart (again, Germany Neutral). Hopefully we try out something else against France- maybe even dropping Rooney, but he really should have regained whatever he's missing at the moment. It's not fitness, he was constantly tracking back last night at full pace (and then getting a silly yellow card), but on the ball, he doesn't look fit at all.

They should all be dropped to scare them and until they start performing then they can fuck off, I'm sure the U21's are itching to play for their country, these celebrities are a joke and unfortunately not good enough.

Give Darren Bent a game and who ever else is available because the likes of Barry aren't good enough.

I'm sure Bent would have started had he been fit. Funny how the way everyone seems to pick up an injury before/during the international break Neutral

Agree with Barry as well, thought he was really average last night. Don't really see what he brings to the side.

And that is why Capello just isn;t the right man, England need an English manager and not some Postman pat headed cunt who is an absolute joke when it comes down to tactics, example of this would be "Come back Heskey" Sad Heskey is a fucking Donkey and always has been, basically England can fuck off.

I was crying out for us to bring on Wilshere last night. When I've seen him play for you guys, he's looked class (am I the only one who thinks he's a little bit like Scholes?). Montenegro showed nothing going foward (apart from when Jovanovic hit the bar), Hart had nothing to do at all, and yet we stuck with Barry and Gerrard- both playing really quite deep. No idea why Young and Johnson never swapped wings last night, and SWP coming on for Young and jogging to the left wing! Fuck me, Fabio doesn't have a clue with us.

Wilshere should of played from the start. So too should off SWP. Crouch missed a header which he should of scored TBH. He should of scored in the 2nd minute, but because he's so tall he's lazy.

I'd give that Carrol from Newcastle a game, offers something different also the fact we are at home against an absolute shit side should give Capello the right to experiment a little bit with some fresh faces such as the obvious choice of Wilshire and Huddlestone.

No chance with SWP, think he's shite in an England shirt tbh Neutral

I'd definately call up Carroll, dunno why he wasn't, and Davies was chose over him.

Because he's one of our best players, and in his last 3 England games he's scored one and assisted 3, being involved in another goal as well, and he was unlucky not to score last night, better than anything else our country can offer..

So would I, but it wouldn't make us any better. Laughing

Rooney's confidence is gone, when he gets it he isn't running at defences like last season and seasons before, he's just laying it off, trying to be basic, and I don't like it.

I like SWP. But at the moment Young is ahead in pecking order.

I'd also get rid of Barry and play either Huddlestone/Wilshere/Lampard. Maybe abit dodgy thinking with Lamps but he's pretty much an alround better player than Barry. Also with Defoe and Bent upfront.

We should play players that play in the Championship/L1/L2 like:

    Clyne
    Lallana
    Smithies
    Jenkins
    etc,etc.

He is reminiscent of a young Paul Scholes, he's always in space in the centre of the pitch and has an eye for the perfect pass. He's a mixture of a young Scholes and a young Fabregas in one. I love my saucy Jack Neutral

Happy Wilshere did not play. Rather not burn him out at this tender age, especially with the current joke of a national team he is playing for.

Rooney should just play half of every england match untill he gets his confidence back. Subbed on for Bent/Defoe at 50-60 minutes.
