Rangers are champions and McCoist has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, but people can easily forget that he has no experience of first team management. Rangers previous three title wins were largely down to the manager Walter Smith, who produced a team that were not exciting but consistent and efficient.

McCoist lacks that managerial know-how and I think he will struggle at first. It wouldn't surprise me if Rangers are sitting in 3rd at ths halfway point of the season, but then pick up and finish in 2nd place: still being quite a way behind Celtic who should really win the league this year with their superior squad.

Poor troll is poor. SPL 2011/2012 Thread - Page 4 684775

I'm not trolling with these comments in any way whatsoever. Most of what I say is factual information.

Are you going to respond and attempt to drill it into me that Allistair McCoist contains the adequate managerial experience to take charge of an Old Firm side when he has never been a first team manager?

You can respond to me by saying that he has been an assistant manager with a prominent role, but being in charge of the first team is a completely different animal. If difficult off the pitch problems occur during the season, McCoist will have no choice but to face up to the sometimes fearsome media. With his lack of experience, he could accidentally step out of line and say something improper which leads him and the club into more trouble.

If a big player decides in January that he would like a move away from Ibrox, then how is McCoist going to handle it? He could easily end up making the mistake of keeping an unhappy player, who in turn, gives a negative vibe across to the Rangers dressing room and affects their strong, winning mentality that has been in existence during the last 3 seasons.

These are just a couple of problems that the man may end up encurring. Would you like more examples, or do you comprehend the point I am trying to get across to you here?

    Not really though.

'Inexperience' - He's been working in the management team with Smith at Rangers and Scotland for years; and has took charge of the team for cup matches since his return to Rangers. More managerial experience than Souness and Smith had when they took over Rangers and they did alright.

'If things aren't going well he might say something which might get his team into trouble' - Senseless point all ifs, buts and maybes. Also Ally has been working in and around the media for years and isn't an idiot.

'If a big player wants to leave it might give a negative vibe across the dressing room'. - See above, all if buts and maybes. And why would that be limited to Rangers and not every team in the world?

The guy is a shit troll and an idiot to boot.

The difference is that Souness and Smith were not under such pressure when they were appointed as managers. Souness did not come into a Rangers team which had won three titles in a row, while Smith did not go into a team which were competing in a two team league, as other sides could realistically challenge for the title.

Taking charge of cup matches means nothing. Throughout those periods, I would expect that Smith would be looking over his shoulder: giving him the necessary advice and correcting mistakes, which I am sure would have come in their drones. You could look at him as the man who took charge of cup winning sides, but you could also look at him as the man who lead sides that struggled to overcome the not so might forces of Queen of the South and Partick Thistle.

Samaras is clearly a player of excellent quality, yet he struggles to find the consistency required to perform at the very top level.

Hopefully, this season will be a different story. I look to Samaras on the bench: wanting to find that inner desire to make it into the first side on a consisten basis. If he can do so, Celtic will have a frightening attack, with 3 of the SPL's very best strikers.

Good answer, I agree with you, I seen him come on last week and I thought of him more as a creator, he looks more likely to score from crosses than anything else, infact he came close from a cross but that was it. Hopefully he does well, it would give Celtic a massive boost.

Celtic are already in a position where they should be able to sail to SPL victory if they fulfill their promise, but if Samaras was to play at his very best, the team would be a beyond frightening prospect.

I would go as far to say that if they do win the league and regain their status as a Champions League club, they could be a threat to any of the world's best teams at Parkhead: a place where they have some of the world's best football fans on their side.
