Although the first round of the tournament proper is still about one month away it is time to start looking at the qualifying tournament that is going on. Only two additional rounds left until the tournament proper.

    Here are some results from the last round;

FC Halifax Town 2-1 Tadcaster Albion

    Blyth Spartans 2-1 Bedlington Terriers

FC United of Manchester 0-1 Lancaster City

    Kidsgrove Athletic 2-0 Boston United

    King's Lynn Town 4-2 Quorn

    Dartford 5-0 Harrow Borough

The main date for the 3rd qualifying round is later today. I have found it hard to find a source with a copy and paste friendly fixture list.

I guess this year's FA Cup is the biggest ever with 763 accepted to take part in the tournament. That includes one team from the 11th level of the English football pyramid.

2011/12 FA Cup thread Empty Re: 2011/12 FA Cup thread

    Post by Weather130 Mon Oct 17, 2011 3:27 am

It may only be early October, but The FA Cup with Budweiser has been in full swing for a while now and there were 40 ties in the world's greatest knockout competition on Saturday.

Teams met in the Third Round Qualifying on a busy day of Cup action and Sutton United striker Leroy Griffiths was presented with the Player of the Round award ahead of his side's clash with Dulwich Hamlet. Griffiths netted four goals in United's 5-1 win to set up a tie with Bognor Regis Town and United claimed a 4-0 victory. Griffiths was on the scoresheet again, as was Tony Taggart, who netted twice in United's win.

Maidenhead United were one of the day's big winners as the Magpies pulled off a shock 4-1 win at home to Woking. United were tremendous and Reece Tison-Lascaris was among the scorers in their surprise victory, but the star of the show was Anthony Thomas - the Magpies' star was instrumental in all of the goals, with his assist for Ashan Holgate particularly impressive.

Basingstoke cruised into the next round with a commanding victory over Hartley Wintney, with Wes Daley, David Pratt and Shaun McAuley among the scorers in their 4-0 win.

There was also a big win for Gloucester City as they hammered Truro City 7-2, with Matt Lock scoring the pick of the goals with a storming 30-yard free-kick.

Oxford City ran out 3-1 winners away at Eastleigh while Dartford recovered after going 1-0 down to Cray Wanderers to eventually prevail 2-1.

Elsewhere, Danny White was the hero for King's Lynn as his last minute goal was enough to beat Stratford Town 3-2 in an enthralling game, while Dover beat nine-man Wroxham 3-1.

Bromley are in the hat for the Fourth Round Qualifying thanks to an entertaining 3-2 win at Margate and Hendon also advanced to the next round thanks to a 3-1 victory at Maldon and Tiptree.

There was no Cup upset at Halifax as they lost 3-0 away to Lancaster City and Eastbourne Borough advanced to the next round thanks to Gary Elphick's goal in their 1-0 victory at home to AFC Sudbury.

In the game's other ties, Dunstable Town were knocked out by an impressive Redbridge side as they run out 3-0 winners and Solihull Moors edged out Grantham Town 3-2.
This article has at least one factual error as FC Halifax Town actually won 0-3 away so that bit seemed a little confusing.

Havant & Waterlooville are out (remember them v Liverpool a few years back) Sad
Bradford Park Avenue won! (They were in the Football League First Division from (1915-1921) Very Happy

Redbridge FC are now the lowest ranked side into the first round draw. Would be great if they got drawn against Dagenham and Redbridge Laughing. Surprised Forest Green lost to Arlesey as they usually do well in the fa cup. Must go down as the shock of the round?

I feel bad for King's Lynn Town as they came all the way from the Extra Preliminary Round and end up losing in the final qualifying round for the tournament. They had to win five games already just to get to last qualifying stage.

What is it with Cheltenham always getting shit cup ties?

9 times in a row we have failed to get a non league tie in the first round, yet we always manage to find league one clubs.

EDIT: Gloucester were the next ball drawn as well :wall2:
