Very true. He is a beast and in my opinion the most complete defender in the world. If he had the defenders that were there during their title years it wouldn't even be a discussion of who is the best.
Why would he need them when this is about individuals?

They make him look bad, like if he was playing for Barca, you'd constantly hear him listed as top best defender.

Actually, I've always deemed te best defenders are the ones who never leave their feet. My dad used to talk about Beckenbauer and about how he rarely slid or even went into break a leg. His game was just based on positioning(sweep).

    Chris, 2 questions:

    a) How many Barcelona games do you watch
    b) How many games did you see last season that Gabi Milito played?

Pique is the centre-back who last season made fewest fouls in the Liga (1 every 95 min), the CL (138 min) and the Copa (127 min)

He doesn't need to make them, he's busy watching the match and when the ball comes back to him keeping the possession flowing.

The best defender in the world wouldn't have committed such a silly challenge in a match that important.

Can you not read? Did you not read the other posts before commenting?

People are listing there top 3-5 list of CB's, not only the best one, and as a result Pepe came up as potentially being in the top 5.

Yeah, because I said "I think Pepe is the best" in that post. Read it again. All I said was that I never rated him until that match.

Why would he need them when this is about individuals?

Well when they left in shit goals and have a high concede rate it doesn't reflect his class. In terms of individual quality there is no defender close to him except maybe Nesta who looked like the Lazio Nesta this season.
