2011/12 Europa League thread

I had time to reflect and I am not surprised at all.

We are struggling in the league, how can we compete in Europe? Lamey, Jaliens, Kirm and Pareiko look worse each game. Chavez is an idiot with the ball, Melikson and Iliev are the only two players with a clue how to play, Biton and Genkov are not good enough for Europe, simple as.

We need a massive clearance this January and a massive spending spree in January as well. Hopefully we still get ourselves into the next round.

As for Legia, I think the general verdict is that PSV and Legia really matched each other and Legia came out unlucky, and that if Legia played like they did against Spartak they would've crushed PSV.

Anyway, Legia will destroy Tel Aviv, and FC Twente will destroy Wisla Krakow.

We are missing both Melikson and Malecki and are on terrible form. I think we are as good as eliminated.

Oh well, I would rather focus on the league, more benefit for us if we win the league and challenge CL next year than if we advance one stage in the EL and nothing else.

Quaresma was outstanding as usual, penalty was a bit harsh but to be fair the ref was a bit bias against Stoke most of the match anyway.

Considering the talent and wage gap Shamrock Rovers have done very well tonight. No one at the end of the day is happy losing but they did an A+ job when it comes to effort.



This reminds me of Havant and Waterlooville and Liverpool a few years ago at Anfield. They lead for a bit but you had in the back of the head that surely they could not win it. Heck they even got applauded off by the Kop. Although I doubt anything similar like that happened tonight at White Heart Lane even with a very similar sitution.

Only player of theirs I didn't want to score was Rohan Rickets, besides that it was a great effort from them and they had me worried for a while
