Nice to see that when Van Persie scores against us we behave in a respectful way, unlike a certain former club of his who threw disgusting abuse at him.

When he wanted to go to our rivals or when he fell out with Ferguson?  Come on, it's a bit different, it was a minority with us anyway.

RVP moved to a bigger club who aren't really your rivals, didn't fall out with anybody and did it to win trophies.  He got you into the Champions League almost single-handedly as a leaving present and you got £24m for him, a major profit.  The move was perfectly understandable from a footballing perspective, I can't see any legitimate reason for grievance with him.  

In spite of that Arsenal fans were singing about rape allegations and giving him all kinds of hateful shit in the first game we played.  Even when your manager asked for classy behaviour from the fans and your players were stood there applauding him onto the pitch as a Champion it was still happening.

If you want to look for an equivalent who actually did leave the best one would probably be Cristiano Ronaldo.  He left us for a bigger club but he left on good terms, when he came back he got a huge amount of respect regardless of the fact he scored against us in both games and knocked us out.  David Beckham also got a great reception with Milan after doing the same.

Still a chance of becoming European Champions.

A second (or third) trophy of the season nonetheless and qualification for next season's UEFA Super Cup and Champions League.  I'll happily take that.
