Fair enough, but we don't get a CAM option do we?
No, but there'll be 2 striker spots, if you picked Gerrard in one of them he'd be playing as a second striker like he did in 2007/08. That's a damn sight closer to his best than Central Midfield. It wouldn't be fair to the other players to include him in this, one of the main parts of his game, the reason he gets the most praise, is his goals and assists, and most of these don't come when he's playing as a central midfielder and a 2.
Midfield in a 4-4-2 isn't his natural position, playing in the hole is undoubtedly in the striker category, not the central midfield category. No-one is nominating Rooney for this position even though in the hold is his best position. Scholes probably will win, and rightly so, but no team would ever play with a midfield 2 of Scholes and Gerrard unless they had only utter shite available as an alternative.
Gerrard should be included in the striker poll, not this, he's far too attacking and ill disciplined for this role, it would be like playing Rooney there, you'd only do it if you were desperate.
