Ronaldo may have been a great player when he was here, but being regarded as the greatest player in a clubs history is to do with more than just ability.

To receive that sort of honour you have to play for the club for a long time and show committment to the club. Ronaldo played for the club for a decent amount of time, but it was nothing compared to the likes of Giggs and Charlton and he certainly did not show loyalty towards the club.

You still haven't given me a full, legitimate case for why the likes of Tevez or Bebe should be added to the list yet. I could easily justify any of my additions to the list.

Sir Bobby Charlton

Sir Bobby Charlton is undoubtedly a true United legend. He was an integral part of the famous Busby Babes team and would be a survivor of the Munich Air Crash in 1958.

After this he continued to play for the team. Despite still being at a very young age, he was already a senior player within the squad and was regarded as one of the very best players in the country.

In the years to come he would form the famous 'United Trinity' with Denis Law and George Best. This partnership of 3 players was regarded as one of the very best in world football.

He was one of 2 players from the Busby Babes team that would play for United when they won the European Cup in 1968 and scored as United beat Benfica 4-1.

When he left United, he was top goalscorer with nearly 250 goals for the club and at the time he was the record appearance holder, something which would later be eclipsed by Ryan Giggs. He has since then, regularly attended all of the Man United games.

Since then he has continued to play and has won a player of the year award, as well as having now made over 800 appearances for the club.
