    Moderator Applications Empty Moderator Applications

Post by Royal Fri May 13, 2011 1:30 pm

    Moderator Applications Modera12
    Applications are currently closed.

We are currently in search of one moderator to cover all areas of the forum. Being a moderator is a voluntary position, there will be no payment involved. You may apply by either posting in this thread or by sending me a PM if you prefer to do it privately. Your application can be as little or as long as you like, but you will have a greater chance of being accepted if you provide more information. Here are a few questions you might want to think about answering in your application:

    • Why do you want to become a moderator?
    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator?
    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum?
      and probably the most important...
    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members?

We are looking for someone who...

    • Actually wants to be a moderator
    • Can take criticism well
    • Is an active member
    • Is a well respected member of the community

What will be expected of you as a Moderator:

    • Move or lock off topic threads
    • Keep the forum clean by deleting spam
    • Distribute warnings/bans when necessary and record them manually
    • Remain calm and avoid involving yourself in arguments
    • Avoid excessive use of profanity, you are supposed to be setting an example
    • Try your best and do what is necessary to defuse tense situations
    • Be stern but fair with your moderating responsibility

Applications will be reviewed shortly after they have been submitted, so get them in as soon as possible. Applying will not guarantee anybody a position. We may still have to resort to asking members, but this way you'll improve your chance of being selected and I know you will actually be willing to take up the responsibility of being a moderator.

I should note, being a moderator will pretty much render your Playmaker Points useless to you. You will not be able to purchase a new coloured username or rank title, but you will be able to request name changes free of charge.

I want to give this a shot, think I can do well. Moderator Applications 881856

    • Why do you want to become a moderator? A: I want to clean this bitch up.
    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? A: I believe in fairness to everyone, just because I like you doesn't mean I'll cut you some slack if you misbehave and I'm neutral when it comes to the big clubs so I don't really get dragged into arguments.
    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? A: I'm in and out of this forum on the daily, at all times of the day and night, even when I don't post a lot of times I'm lurking on the forum.
      and probably the most important...
    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? A: I don't argue with anyone, I have thick skin, probably just give them a verbal(or written) warning through a PM first and if it persists give them an official warning.

I think I qualify for all the above except maybe that I do cuss a lot, like I even cussed in this post, but I can cut that down if I make myself more aware of it.

Strong, fair enforcement of the rules. I'm a good poster, and a respected poster, but more importantly, I'm a good man, who knows the difference between right and wrong, and has an excellent understanding of why freedom of speech is important. A lot of people use their moderator powers to laud over other people - this is something I would never do, as a moderator I would never use my powers to alter the outcome of a particular argument I'm involved in.
    4PM - 12AM, but I'm on whenever I'm bored really
Usually I respond in kind, if I were a moderator that wouldn't change.

Why do you want to become a moderator? - To help the forum progress and crack down on people violating the rules.
How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? - I'm pretty much always online, see a lot of posts and know the rules quite well already, don't swear a lot, have matured a lot recently, can be stern as a moderator when needed, and relaxed as a member when needed.
Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? - Well on schooldays about 4-10pm, maybe some breaks inbetween, and weekends, pretty much all day, with some breaks too.
    and probably the most important...
How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? - I believe I have responded quite well as of late, bar some incidents where I may lose my cool, but with the added responsibility of moderator I would be able to control myself better, as more is expected of me.

I probably have no chance here, bad rep, little respect, but still, nice to show an interest.

    • Why do you want to become a moderator? I think I'll do well on here, I'm a well educated person, have a large football knowledge about many different leagues and players, I fluently speak German, English and French, my Spanish is also quite good, speak a bit of Italian and Shona as well, also used to be a mod on different forums before, so I've got some experience in being a mod. Furthermore, I feel it's necessary to represent multiculturality on here, that's why I think with my own multicultural background I'll be the perfect option to achieve this.

    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? I feel there's some sort of bias towards "respected" forum members, they often seem to get treated differently by the current and past mods, if I'm going to be a mod, there won't be any double standards, I'll treat everyone the same, regardless if it's a member with 20k posts, or a newbie.

    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? Basically I'm online most evenings, about 6 pm to 11 pm most of the time, if ever needed, I'll be able to execute my moderating duties during noon as well.

    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? I'll stay calm and try to approach possible problems in a constructive manner. Of course I'll be able to take constructive criticism and feedback, I'm not the kind of guy who starts arguments either, I am also quite talented in settling disputes.

    • Why do you want to become a moderator? - I'm active, get on well with almost everyone, I'm sensible, and I showed i can control the rowdy people on EA.
    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? - I'm neutral, and almost always available.
    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? - 4PM - 9PM (Weekdays) All day (weekends)
      and probably the most important...
    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? - I laugh and take it as banter. However if I feel that they are correct with their criticism, then it will be taken on board and I will try to improve that area.

My age might be a hindrance though Cry

    What the hell.

    • Why do you want to become a moderator? - I'll be honest. There are some things said here that are not appropriate at all. Yet it goes unnoticed or is ignored. I want to get rid of that stuff.
    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? - I am a pretty intelligent poster, I know a lot about football, and there is nobody on here that has a dislike of me. (I think). I'm also involved in the Moderating/Admin part over at EA. There is also a bit of bias towards some members here, almost like cliques. I'd be fair to everyone. Also, there are some things said here that go unpunished, despite being pretty offensive.
    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? - Mainly between 5-11 pm. But I am on at random times in the morning, or during the day, for short periods of time.
    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? - Ban the bastards. Nah, I'm joking. Ask them the reason for the comments, or try to sort it out privately, either by pm or any other method.

Why do you want to become a moderator? So I can ban Radford when Hereford beat us next seaon.

How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? I will not be bias to any members or get into petty arguments very often.

Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum?

    About 17:00 to 00:00.

    and probably the most important...
How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members?

I'm willing to accept any criticism as long as it's constructed and the person has a valid reason for it. I will then take it on board to improve whatever aspect that they want.

Part of the appeal of this forum is how well moderated it is, and by 'well moderated' I mean 'lightly moderated', whether I get a position or not, what we don't want, as a forum, is someone who has a problem with what half the forum is doing, and will come out acting the big man.

Why do you want to become a moderator? Because there are a lot of petty arguments and inappropriate situations that go on here and sometimes there aren't any mods online to deal with it or they go under the radar, so I would like to help.

How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? I'm on quite a lot of the time, except when I am at school (Although I'm about to go on my summer holidays) I am quite good at reading situations and can tell where any potential arguments are gonna be. I go on most/all of the different sections of the forum and just read them so there won't be much that gets past me. I am quite friendly and approachable (at least i hope I am) so members should be able to come to me with problems and I can deal with them swiftly and effectively. I don't often get into arguments with people so I shouldn't have any personal reasons to ban anyone and everyone has a 'clean sheet' so I don't have any grudges or anything. (Sorry if that's too long, i just feel quite passionately about this Laughing )

Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? Well, in the upcoming holidays, i should come on from about 11am and be on and off until 12pm shifty

How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? That's a tough question really, I guess I would reply to them calmly and ask why they think that, if it's a valid point, but mainly I wouldn't take it to heart and accept it as banter. If it's just like 'You're a cunt', I would probably ignore it scratch

    Thanks for reading Smile

Why do you want to become a moderator? Because I want to help the forum out and try and make it a better place. If a new member visits the forum as a guest and sees a lot of spam threads, he would not stay. I believe that as a moderator, baiting and spam threads would be locked/deleted immediately. I know a lot of you think I am strange, but I will not do things such as ban a member needlessly for a joke.

How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? I believe that I would give out appropriate punishments for the appropriate post/thread. I would also be quick on the ball to delete any baiting/troll threads.

Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? 3pm-11pm
    and probably the most important...

How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? Depends on what is said. If I am attacked without provoke, I would probably give a warning. I know when what is said is a joke.

Why do you want to become a moderator? - I used to be a mod, helping the forum has always been in my best interests.
How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? - I'll try to do my best, like Blackskar Razz. As I said just want to help the forum, the better run it is, the more attractive it is to new members.
Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? - I can't say in GMT but I'm on a lot during your British hours, and when I'm not mods surely are on.
    and probably the most important...
How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? - People know I fly off the handle at times but that's me, only ever done it towards two people (Chip & Jela). But I know if I was to be a mod I'd have to leave my biased aside. And normally I'm ok with negative comments, I can take them everyone has there own opinion I have to respect that.

    • Why do you want to become a moderator? I want to help the forum become a better place. For example; I won't leave obvious trolling/spam threads open unlike some former Moderators.
    • How do you feel the forum will benefit from having you as a moderator? I guess they'd take it as a surprise. I won't blame them if they would be unhappy at first but I will be a very fair moderator.
    • Between which hours (GMT) do you think you spend the most time on this forum? I spend my time on the forum alot. You guys already know that Laughing
      and probably the most important...
    • How do/will you respond to negative comments towards you from other members? It depends really. If someone is going to insult me I won't care. If someone is going to insult my family I won't rage at them but I'll simply warn them..If the problem persists I will give them an official warning.

    • Be stern but fair with your moderating responsibility I can do all of these easily. I know I have a slim chance of me being a moderator but I can..and will change if I do become one
