"Great passer of the ball" is something I hear a lot concerning Charlie Adam, and due to the large number of Liverpool fans on the forum, plenty of people see it as a good opportunity to get a dig in at a Liverpool player, and that player, more often than not, is Lucas Leiva.
Out of curiosity I will have a look at some of the passing stats of the 2 players, but before I do, remember that Adam is one of the best in the league, and Lucas is crap, so Charlie will surely wipe the floor with him, right? Wrong.
Adam had a
60% pass completion rate today Compared to our Lucas'
81% pass completion against Newcastle
And before the "yeah but you were at home to a worse team" excuse, let's have a look at Lucas' performance against Spurs away shall we?
The results come in to show that Lucas Leiva, you know the one, the shit Brazilian that plays for Liverpool even though he can't pass to save his life and just goes round kicking people? Yeah that's the one.
Pass completion - 90%.In the same game Lucas made
10 tackles, how many did Charlie Adam make today, let's see how many times he won the ball back and maybe even made up for the 4/10 passes that went astray...
Charlie Adam's tackles today...2 But of course we shouldn't judge Charlie off just the 1 match, should we?
We'll rewind a week to the Blackpool vs Stoke match, a 0-0 draw against probably the most technically limited side in the league. Surely Adam's passing will show these Stoke boys a thing or two...
18 unsuccessful passes gave him a
pass completion rate of 59, yes 59%. Not the best for a
'great passer of the ball'.But Stoke play hoofball, and the ball isn't on the ground enough for Adam to make enough passes, I would like to see Lucas do better; ok then, I'll match up Lucas' pass completion, wait for it, wait for it...
89% Pass completion.Need I say more?
