Help Plymouth Argyle out??? Empty Help Plymouth Argyle out???

Post by Jordi Wed Jan 26, 2011 6:27 am

As you may know, (or not know) Plymouth are on the verge of going out of business, and they must stump up £500,000 to keep themselves going.

An Argyle fan in Japan came up with the idea of creating a petition that he will present to major shareholders 'Kagami,' in person. It may do something, it may not, but it is horrible to see this happen to any football club, so if you could offer your support to keep them alive.

    Thanks for reading this Smile

If people from Plymouth (like the the reporter) actually supported their hometown teams then they wouldn't be going out of business.

Congratulations glory hunters, this is what you do to a club.

Congratulations glory hunters, this is what you do to a club.

as sensational a comment as that is, i happen to agree with it. whether you are a glory supporter from Devon starving your local clubs of much needed revenue or a glory supporter in Delaware swelling the coffers of the "big" clubs, you create disparity and harm to our game both in the established leagues of football and the developing leagues around the world.

but the glory supporters dont care. as long as they get to watch "their" team and revel in the "oneupmanship" that supporting a successful team brings!

for the record, i wont be signing any petition. its high time football clubs stopped living beyond their means and accept that not everyone can be top of the league!

I'm serious, I should support my local team, I know I should but I chose my team at a young age and couldn't just decide to stop caring about them Neutral

Northern Irish league is even worse, you could meet the star player working in The local supermarket.

James just as a side note you need to get off your high horse, supporting your local team does not make you a better person.

If your local team are utter wank (like in conference standard, or lower), support your less local but still more local side IMO.

IR, if you are near Leyton Orient, support West Ham, if you are near Chelsea, support Fulham! Help Plymouth Argyle out??? 284837

Unless your in Malaysia, Moldova, Pakistan or Ireland, than you can gloryhunt, that would be acceptable.

It does matter how good a team is, you want to see some quality of play. I watch football to be entertained, not outta some duty to a certain club Neutral

You aren't a supporter then, you are a fan Sean. There is nothing wrong with that.

And I don't think i'm a better person, but i'm definately more of a supporter because I actually go to games and travel around the country supporting them.

So we agree. People say I attack people on the matter, but I only do so if they slag off my team. I think it is unfair people who don't go to games and 'support' the bigger teams just because they are good or don't go to games should insult other teams. If people do that then of course i'm going to bite back. Natural reaction.

Obviously it is different if you have moved away for various reasons.

You know for a fact you get called a glory hunter because you keep referring to Arsenal as "we".

I haven't been called a gloryhunter. I've always like Arsenal (and Roma for that matter) and have been a 'fan' of the club, or to put in other words, 'fond' of the club. But I will never ever support another club other than Wisla (and Toronto FC, but MLS clubs don't really count given my situation)

I say 'we' because it is easier to say. Help Plymouth Argyle out??? 727917

Why not say "you" when talking in the arsenal thread. It is one letter more, not that hard. That's what I do if I want to discuss other teams in their thread.

    Dunno What a Face

I am floating in the between zone, I have developed feelings for Arsenal, but I still don't consider myself as a supporter. (Plus I haven't done any actual supporting, just have one Pires shirt from a birthday gift a few years back Razz)

I am contemplanting (sp) buying a Dortmund shirt with Kagawa on the back simply because I can't find a Japan one.

I'm unsure if this goes against my rules though, I like Dortmund, not a supporter, I just like the way the club is supported by others and watched a few games and come to like Kagawa.

So i'm not glory hunting, and I would be funding a club, but it is a club in debt which is supported properly. Would be like a gift I suppose.

    This is fine imo.

I myself have been contemplating getting a Dortmund Kuba shirt. Smile
