As everyone will know, Plymouth Argyle were placed into Administration in March 2010 after racking up debts of around 17 Million Pounds. A high Championship wage-bill, followed by Relegation too League One, and a failed World-Cup Bid were blamed for this. The club were then deducted 10 points for entering Administration, and after a brave battle, were relegated into the bottom tier of English Football.
During this time, the clubs lead administrator Brendan Guilfoyle, had talked with many potential bidders- Including Truro City Chairman, Kevin Heaney. Soon after the close of the season, Guilfoyle had picked mystery Irish Investors as his preffered bidders. This was considered a shock too many, as James Brent a leading property developer, looked set too become the new owner of the club. The 'Irish' as they were billed, had payed a 6 Figure Sum too keep their idenitys a secret until Mid-June. Once Mid-June had come, the adminsitrator Brendan Guilfoyle still did not know exactly who he was dealing with. It was then released that Peter Ridsdale, who was only here for a 'Holiday', was going to become Chairman in the proposed takeover- He would control the football side of the club, and the Property would be that of the Mystery 'Irish' Investors. By July, a new twist had been hit. Despite just about everyone saying Kevin Heaney had NOTHING to do with the deal, he was acting with the 'Irish' as a consultant after being caught out by a group fans at a Hotel.
As the season come closer and closer, everybody knew what was happening at the club was wrong. Peter Ridsdale is on a reported 20k a month, as the staff have not been payed in full since December. Guilfoyle said the deal would be done by August 6th- It wasn't, he said August 13th. It won't be, he know says the end of the month after attempting to take the Preffered Bidders too court, he is running out of options. After promising staff, players, everyone pay for this month he now knows this is not possible. Fans have been desperate for Guilfoyle to speak too James Brent, who is Plan B- The fans choice, and it looks as though he might after months of holding down with the Preffered Bidders- Who have no proof of funding, still.
After months of hard-work from the fans, staff and players they have kept the club alive. They have ensured we start the new season, we have a new squad, but we can't go on for much longer like this. The staff haven't been payed in full since December- Thats 9 months of putting their lives on hold, their family, lifes neccessiates, just for the sake of this football club. Guilfoyle and his Boss' at the B&A partnership can't afford this to last longer.
Plymouth Argyle's last day has almost come, with Saturdays game in severe doubt.
As Tesco say, 'Every Little Helps' - Please sign this petition to be presented to Guilfoyle, it could go a very long way. Losing this club would be the end of the world for us...
