Re: Primera División de México
Tigres will probably win the Concacaf Champions leauge though, or at least breeze through it all up until the final. Their second string team is better than some first string teams.

Re: Primera División de México
Guy on Jorge Ramos radio show said that there could still be a surprise signing by Santos. He wasn't just a regular guy calling, but I don't know how much credibility he had.
I may be wrong, but I think that the window for transfers between the teams in the league is over, so this guy could be hinting at Giovanni Moreno. Or another foreigner.

I hope it is Moreno, he'd be a great addition to the leauge. Of course if recent trend is to go by anything in two seasons he'll be playing for America.

Won't be a surprised if he will.
Chivas and Bofo are no more no one wanted him in the draft either. I wonder where Bofo will be headed to now? my guess is he'll end up in the MLS.

Chivas USA
Back in the mid-200's cant remember the exact year, I went to see Chivas v Necaxa and Cruz Azul v Tigres in the Home Depot Center.
Bofo's and Chueco Gaitans performances that day were the best I have seen live.

Jaime Correa to Necaxa. Poor Correa he's too good to be playing in the second division. This is what you get when you have multi propiedades. Forcing players to move clubs.

Tecos, Atlas, Xolos, Jaguares, Puebla, and a few others could all use Correa. Shame he'll be in the 2nd division.

Torito Silva went to my birth town team of La Piedad in the second division. He joins Woody Sanchez who was at America as well.

Wow, clip from 1967 game. Was that a friendly?
Reyna is a starter today against Jaguares. Hope he does well.
Almost time for America-Gallos, lets see this new mentality they supposedly have. I hope to be impressed.

Cool clip, amazing 67...
Navarrete Disagreed with him being trade, I felt really bad for him. He's a solid keeper.

I know Kellog, Navarrete now has at least a decent defense in front of him, certainly better than ours, and he beats Chivas the first week. He really wasn't the problem, the problem is still playing
Without Reyna and Vicente we lack width in our attack, and most of the time Benitez was alone in the box. Great finish from him though.

Re: Primera División de México
Polar opposites. America doesn't play well but still manages to win 2-0. Chivas plays well but loses 1-0.
While watching the Chivas game I mentioned to my cousin. "Esta pelicula ya la vi" We were still 0-0 but I already knew what was coming. I didn't even get mad when it did cause I was ready for it.
Rayados beat Jaguares 2-1, and San Luis beat Pumas 1-0.
The Chivas and Pumas result just tells us what we already know. Mexican strikers are terrible. Well not terrible but there aren't too many that are natural finishers or goalscorers. Only ones right now who are decent are Chicharito and Peralta, the rest are either second strikers or attacking midfielder that take on more of a support role like Gio, Hobbit and Arrellano or target men that are used more like "postes" who bring the volantes and attacking midfielders into attacking positions like Aldo de Negris, Eduardo Herrera and Cubo Torres.
Doesn't help much either when pretty much every team just goes off to Colombia or Argentina and just signs one instead of giving a young player a shot.
The future doesn't look to bright in that department either, only young player that shows those types of qualities right now is Raul Jimenez.
I still think one of Mexico's greatest striking talents that got away was Maleno Frias. Always prolific but never got much of a chance in the first division. Made his first division debut when he was like 27. He's 32 now.

Re: Primera División de México
Yeah, no more Vicente Sanchez and Reyna. Piojo Herrera is thinking more of an attacking mid with Hobbit. He even played Vuoso there and he was pretty good, surprisingly. I'm glad Benitez got the goal, after his goal being disallowed thanks to Molina
I don't think America didn't play well. We definitely deserved the win. Queretaro just had that one chance in the beginning but apart from that, nothing. It was a lot better than last time, but I wouldn't hold the result to high.
CubeFace ain't doing it for you guys unless it's America or Atlas

Re: Primera División de México
Yeah, Benitez needed that. He played much better after the goal too. Looks like we're done with attacking wings and are concentrated more through the middle. Chema looked pretty good when he came on, hoping he'll be effective.
Jackson Martinez could go to Liverpool?

Re: Primera División de México
Jackson Martinez reminds me a bit of Ya-no-llega. Will play out of his skin and carry the team in a game or two then not be able to finish a sandwich the next three.
Not to mention the injuries. Those two things has kept him from becoming top scorer despite his obvious talent.
Oh and Rolfi needs to start taking penalties, or Hobbit for that matter. Benitez looked nervous on the first kick but managed to convert it but then you knew he wasn't going to be able to convert the repetition by just looking at his body language. I'm starting to feel like he struggles when there is a lot of pressure on him. I wonder if he's been listed as the official penalty taker or he just ask for them and do to "jerarquia" they let him take it.
It's just odd that he still takes him despite missing some pretty big ones last season, America won fair and square but they didn't play to well and if it wasn't for those two really good counter attack and Queretaro's lack of fire power that penalty miss could of really hurt them.
I remember when Chicharito kept missing penalties for Chivas and we had to get freaking Hector Reynoso to take them. He's about as "suavecito" as a rock. Just smashes them in.
I still don't like Hernandez taking penalties for Mexico. It should be Guardado or Marquez. Although Marquez's Tri career is probably on the verge of ending.

Re: Primera División de México
Benitez took the first penalty well, just that Molina went in to early, just barely though. It's usually tougher to make it again if you have to repeat it. They should have repeated a third time since Liborio went off his line before the ball was kicked. He's missed three so far for us, blew one over and two were blocked. Still rather have Benitez or Hobbit take them over Rolfi, not too confident in him.
Chicharito taking penalties makes me nervous for some reason, probably because I haven't really seen him shoot them. he did have that nice little chip penalty against El Salvador though. Guardado, Marquez, Gio are probably the best candidates to shoot them.
Still don't understand Gato Ortiz . Dude was set. Family, wealthy, decent playing career. When they interviewed him on espn like a year ago he seemed like nice cool guy.

Even Pardo missed when he had to take them twice.
Guy was always clinical in the penalty spot along with Blanco.
I'd like Gio to take penalties for Mexico.
So many Portuguese that day.

Chias seem to never come out of Chiapas with a good result. Same thing happens with Santos visiting Tecos. A bit more embarrassing for Santos though.

Chivas are going to be shit this season. Jesus, you can tell we can't score a goal to save our lives.
I expect a lot of loses from a one goal margin.
By the way, I hope I'm wrong but the Crossas signing seems a bit pointless.
Stupid redcards don't help.

The only thing I can think of is Rodriguez getting old. Even with no speed, there is a difference in play when he isn't on the field. Hopefully he is good, but I don't really see the point of signing him either.

Re: Primera División de México
Personally I think there are like a hundred Mexican players that can play the Marc Crossas role. Could be another Aldo Leão Ramírez though who at first didn't look all that special but ended up being pretty decent, so who knows.

I watched this game in TV Azteca that commentator is definitely a fan of Chias. I think Martinolli is his name. Extremely annoying sometimes.

Re: Primera División de México
Wrong, TV Azteca like Televisa are notorious for biging up their respective club's player, vice versa they make the opposing team's player sound worse than what they are.
The station that bigs up Chivas is Telemundo's Cantor.

The guys sounds all pi$$ed when Chivas are losing. The other time when Chiapas beat them 4-0 he was saying added time was disrespectful
