No, I meant some teams in the second division signed those two. Luciano Emilio is playing with Toros Neza and Ruiz is playing for Veracruz.

Paco was a beast in his late thirties. Don't remember if he won a title with Cruz Azul? With Pumas he won twice i think.

Re: Primera División de México
Yes he was, 14 years ago.
Palencia was one of those players that did their part on and off the field. Never the most technical of players but he had great strength and determination, not to mention he had a really good shot on him too(which would explain his nickname). Which made him pretty much universally liked in every club he played for.
I was looking for that video where Manuel Vidro breaks his face open but I couldn't find it.

Ché Guayaba wrote:Apertura champion faces off against Clausura champion and whoever wins gets promoted. If you win both you get promoted automatically. As far as I know only two teams have ever done that, Tigres in 97 and Irapuato in 2000.
Thankfully, Necaxa are with no possibilities of being promoted. Leon is the Cruz Azul of the second division(as in they choke when it matters)
Teams that should not be in the first division are San Luis and Jaguares. If FIFA had any balls they wouldn't be.
Makes sense, but then Necaxa could win the Clausura 2012? The only reason I would like UAG down is because they don't have fans at least the other two do. (Necaxa & San Luis) On the + side Necaxa could keep letting América get free points.

That's funny, he always signs with them in my football manager saves.
I guess that means Oribe is heading off to Celtic...or Chivas.

According to Mexican law they aren't considered gringos.

His mother is Mexican. I guess it still counts.
I think, and I could be wrong here, the only American in Mexico that takes one of the 5 foreigner spots allowed by the leauge is Damarcus Beasly.

Blacks aren't considered Mexican by law? Racists. And that's probably right -- every other American that plays there is of Mexican descent/heritage. Except they always lack the footballing ability

Re: Primera División de México
Hey Herc is the shit. Finally got a well deserved move to a bigger club one not in relegation troubles(just going to ignore his time at Pachuca). Diego de la Torre is pretty good too, always wanted him to get a call up, just to try him out.
You also hear good things about some of the younger American players, specifically America's Issac Acuña and Santos's(on loan with Jagaures) Gustavo Ruelas
You know who also has an American connection but where born in Mexico, Ricardo Bocanegra and Cirilio Saucedo. Bocanegra is 22 and starting for Atlas. Won the Panamerican games with Mexico, he's pretty damn good but would probably have a hard time breaking into the senior team so I think he'd probably end up choosing the US over Mexico if it came to that.

Vizcarrondo to America. Not a bad move really, much better than getting Milito. Also Vicente Sanchez might be going to Cruz Azul.

Re: Primera División de México
One of the best centerbacks in South America. It's a shame America seems to sign my favorite players. Hobbit, Molina, Moises Muñoz ect.
Hopefully they all flop like the last set.
Even though Atlante is being ripped apart by America they have brought in a few decent players.
Atlas seem to be getting their shit together and are looking to sign some experienced players too.
Morelia and Jagures already doing their Televisa style mini draft. Disgusting.
Best signing so far in my opinion. Aguirre to Atlante, Hobbit to America and Herculez to Santos.
Also Andres Chitiva retired.

Re: Primera División de México
I hope they just start using the players from youth teams and they sign C.Blanco. Sub-20 champions 3-times in a row and yet their is not much to show for it. Get rid of Rosinei & Rolfi. Win.
*Reality check*
They will keep all five extranjeros. Slap Blanco in the face and not really use the sub-20 players.

Re: Primera División de México
I hear a lot of people calling for Blanco, but he's old and way past it. I don't know how many of you have seen him in Liga de Acenso but he has a lot of trouble keeping up. He could probably still play 20 minutes or so of quality football if he concentrates on football but that probably won't happen.
I know a lot of people love him, but they have to start thinking with their heads and not their hearts, only reason Blanco should go back to America is to have a sending off game. His wage demands don't match his ability anymore.
It's the same thing with Walter Gaitan(even though he's only 34, he's out of shape) and Tigres fans.
It's hard for veteran players to keep up. Of course there are some exception, and there are players who despite their age were still valuable to their teams, in Mexico there was Paco Palencia, Ramon Morales and Pony Ruiz who despite their age, as true professionals, stayed in great physical shape. This extended their careers a few years but even they have retired(Paco and Ramon) or are surely thinking about retiring real soon(Pony).
That sub 20 comment reminds me of a conversation I had with my cousin who was saying how great America's future is because they are winning the sub 20 each year, and I jokingly said(well half jokingly, I was half serious) the only reason America wins those tournaments is because their 20 years olds get stuck in the sub 20 and everyone else's are already first team regulars in Primera Division.
Raul Jimenez and Acuña are good though(and of course Reyes)

Re: Primera División de México
Blanco is getting old, however I'd much rather have him than a fit Rofli anyday. That fool is absolute garbage along with Vuoso.
Pelaez said there is no room for Cuauh and that he wants results. Yet, he keeps the same players that have been the problem the past 5 tournaments.

Re: Primera División de México
Instead of Cuauh who would want to play every game, and honestly he is no longer capable of doing anything productive, get German Villa. He would be cheap, won't expect to play, and having someone that everyone in the team can respect will bring that locker room back together. Won't happen, so I'm expecting a slightly better season. If they are lucky they will find themselves in the liguilla, but not much else.
Also Atlante is looking pretty good even without Hobbit. They are making some good buys and should be one of the better teams to keep an eye on.

Re: Primera División de México
Well, Cuauh wouldn't play the whole game, a good solid 20-25 minutes would do. But he'd more of leader on the team and someone the young players can look up to.
Atlante and Pachuca could be solid next season, Tijuana and Atlas too. Wonder if Tigres will suffer the fate as Pumas?

Re: Primera División de México
Cuauh is only capable of playing 20-25 minutes, but him being as big as he is wouldn't accept that. He would want to be a starter. He would be someone the players look up to, him becoming the protagonist would be a bad thing. Why I suggested Villa. Although he was never the player Cuauh was he would be just as respected and would unify the teams locker room and he would be there for only that reason as there are young players that are capable of contributing more than both of them.

Re: Primera División de México
Not to mention Temoc would probably be on massive wages.
I have a feeling that'll be a big reason why he won't find a new team and will then be forced to retire.
By the way, I can't see Vouso leaving unless he messes up big time(like in the Toluca-Santos Final.) managers and teammates absolutely love guys like him. Serene and hardworking.
On the other hand players and managers dislike players like Rolfi, lazy and controversial. It's why I expect him to be the first to go if you sign an new foreigner.

Re: Primera División de México
How many players does America have that are not terrible at the moment?
Just 2 years ago people were also saying how he's old and should retire yet he carried the Mexico national team on his back. People forget that he plays with passion, not something we see now in there. Besides what's the worst that could happen? I'd rather have him (the biggest figure in the last decade) then so many of these terrible players who could care less.
Remember how much money and spots have already been taken by players making a laughing stock of the club? For how many years now? I don't think anyone expects a miracle from him at his age but he's already said that he would like to come back to the club so many times and they never sign him even for 1 last season to appropriately send him off. That's not the way to treat America's biggest idol in the last decade.
FS, they should sign him.

Re: Primera División de México
America gets more depressing. They sell Reyna to Monterrey for 1.5 million? They could have gotten another player in exchange at least.
Blanco goes to Dorados in the 2nd division.
Danilinho accused of abuse and never wants to return, that's interesting.

only 1.5 million? That is crazy. I kind of wanted Santos to get him even though he has an attitude problem. No one can deny his skill, and with Chema to America, we could use somebody on the wings like Reyna.

Yup. Tigres and Monterrey have the best squads man by man, but I don't think either will win the Clausura.
