Mario took the ball off hendo and sturridge was trying to get it back. It was def embarrassing by all involved but the worse was gerrard speaking to the media like that. He should know better.

I know what happened, why the hell was he trying to get it back? Balotelli is one of the beat players in the world at taking penalties, of course he should be taking it.

Er...no he wasn't, he wanted to rake the penalty despite there beinga much better taker on the field for his own personal glory. When that taker took the ball off him off him he increased the pressure on him by trying to start an argument. The guy is a fucking dick head.

You don't steal the ball from the captain thats why but thats not the bigger issue IMO. footballers do childish things, the stupid thing was gerrard shit talking mario in the media.

I don't think he is our best choice but he has come a long way.  I would personally make skrtel the captain next season but hendo is still a good choice.

I thought it was odd as well.  Henderson has never taken a penalty at the senior level before, Sturridge has missed his only one for Liverpool, yet Balotelli has a 96% (around there) success rate.  Rodgers seemed to say that Henderson was first choice until Balotelli came on as a sub, in which case he either poorly communicated his plans or Henderson was being selfish.

Balotelli should be taking every penalty we're awarded when he's on the pitch. Even if Gerrard is playing. He is just ice cold from the spot and that plays into the mind of the GK too.

Henderson seemed to give it up pretty easily, tbh. It was Sturridge who was arguing his case. Overall it was pretty embarrassing to see, but meh, it was entertaining.

Gerrard's comments about it, though, lmao, gtfo of this Club asap, please. Convinced we'd be higher in the League if it wasn't for his pathetic DM displays.

His reaction was very poorly worded, he should have known how people would take them.  I don't know why current players ever bother to be pundits, they are all stupid enough to make comments like that.

    Nice win.

Just looked at the table and lol'd at where Everton are and how many points they've got. Wtf. Didn't realise they were doing that poorly.

The result was as important as the performance was unimpressive.  The conditions may have played a role, neither side played that intricately in the final third and we had to rely on a wondergoal and abysmal refereeing to get into the game. Coutinho, Sterling, and Lallana were all disappointing.  Ibe looks like the greatest first half player in the world.  The reshuffled back 3 got the job done, while Mignolet looks more than adequate for the time being.

Didn't RR say that he "quite rated" Martinez while Rodgers is a terrible manager? think

I still think Rodgers is a poor manager, just results have been going the other way. Team still hasn't played well in about 70% of this winning run.

I think he's done an okay job here overall.  His performance definitely looks better because of the incompetence of teams around us-he's benefited from Arsenal's stagnation and United's post-Ferguson demise.

I think he's done a stellar job this season. He had to make significant changes when things were going terribly and he managed it. He's employed a very different system to what he was previously familiar with and he's now getting the best out of most of his players. If he qualifies for the Champions League (which I think he will) then he deserves plenty of praise.

I hope you are right.  That Chelsea/Crystal Palace debacle might have been the wake-up call he needed.  His work with younger players seems to be phenomenal as well, it might be his strongest asset.  Recalling Studge 3 has proven to be a masterstroke.

Our last 4 games were City, Southampton, Spurs and Everton.

Can't believe we've come through that without losing a single game, let alone winning the 3 most difficult ones.

    not worthy

Wonder if Origi will have much of an impact next season. We've already got 3 fast black men (Studge 1,2 and 3) so another added to that would be interesting.

Regardless of how poor he was to begin with, I hope we hold on to Balotelli.

Hang on, the figures for 2012/2013 don't really make sense...if we continue on 2.5 points this season, we end up with 76 (75.5) points, but we only got 61 in 2012/2013.  Besides, there is no way we averaged 2.5 points in 2013-we dropped something like 21 points in our final 19 games.

The Aug-Dec is also wrong, pretty sure you got 28 points in 20 games which is 1.4. Then from Jan-May you got 33 in 18 which is 1.83.

Someone probably edited that photo and just copied 2014/15 figures.
