I guess I just wanted him to play the game slow and comfortable. When he realized their whole team was camping back they should have just played slow tempo possession. Considering how many goals given up from individual errors I think ultra offensive was wrong. The primary goal that match should have been not to concede rather than score.Glen Miller wrote:What exactly should we have done differently? Chelsea set out defensively with a ridiculously weakened team, we set out to dominate, we dominated-possession, field position, shots on target, shots off target-and Gerrard let us down because he is a cockroach. Even if we had decided to park the bus against a team parking the bus (have never seen that happen, one team normally invites pressure one way or the other) and gotten a draw, then we would have only added pressure to the matches coming up. Imo opinion, Crystal Palace away would have been a difficult fixture to face in a must-win match with a young team and we only really gained a comfortable lead () because we weren't really under any pressure. You're just enjoying the benefits of hindsight.Dagbon wrote:That's bullshit, a good manager should adapt his tactics to what the situation calls for. Those 11 previous games were must wins, the 12th needed just a draw. Set up the team accordingly. Especially against a team like Chelsea which did exceptionally against all the top teams last season, and only lost the title due to dropping too many points against minnows.
Rodgers has done a good job, but I do agree that everything out of his control played out well last season-City with a new manager, Chelsea with a new manager, Manchester United losing Alexander, Spurs losing Bale, Arsenal's big signing not hitting the ground running, our luck with injuries & lack of fixture congestion. I also made my feelings about absolute faith in him clear in a post above.
Okay, I think I can agree with that.Dagbon wrote:I guess I just wanted him to play the game slow and comfortable. Atleast our current manager doesn't go on an alcohol fuelled night out with our newest signings to see boyzone, tbf.Glen Miller wrote:Agreed. Certainly neither the first nor the last time that devious little serpent has cost us.Scouser_Dave wrote:
So Rodgers bottles it if he doesn't get the team to defend and is insulting for getting them to attack? Make your fucking mind up
The Chelsea game was going well until Gerrard slipped. It's solely down to him we didn't win the league not Rodgers.
Also, the "Rodgers has his man, I trust him" argument is the stuff we came up with to defend ourselves when King Kenneth signed the likes of Downing and Carroll.
Markovic wrote:“I am excited about Balotelli because I like to play with good footballers,” said Markovic, before turning the conversation towards himself, with a message Liverpool supporters will love.
“I thought that Liverpool were the best team last season and, yes, I thought they should have been champions. Luck played a part in the outcome of the title.
“I have come here because, firstly, this is one of the best clubs in the world.
“Secondly, I am now in the best league in the world and, thirdly, Liverpool are the strongest and most superior team. That is my opinion.
“We can win the title. I feel that even with all the new players we have we are all competent and good enough.
“I have that confidence – and I play with the confidence I feel.”
“I am ready to play straight away,” he insisted. “I can become one of the best players in the Premier League.
"Perhaps I am so confident because in every season I have played I have finished as a champion.”

Agreed. Can & Moreno certainly never struck as the kind of lads to say that sort of thing.Keyser Söze wrote:Players that will repeat anything the press officers at Liverpool spoon feed them.

I'm bored of this "thing" now. I'm going to stop, and by that, I also mean I'm not going to make wind-up comments related to Arsenal anymore (and instead, try and discuss things properly). I don't care what you do, but it would be cool if you could stop it too.
I would never have guessed.Keyser Söze wrote:Scott_LFC wrote:Give it up, Keyser. You stink of jealousy right now.Scott_LFC wrote:Keep trying, Keyser. You seem to care an awful lot about this transfer.Scott_LFC wrote:Super Mario, baby. Cry more, Keyser.Scott_LFC wrote:So desperate, Keyser

Sturridge does seem like a confident guy. He's off the cuff interviews after games show that that's how he always is. But players that um and ah their way through spontaneous interviews or mostly give drab and boring pre-planned interviews but then suddenly act all cocky are clearly spoon fed what to say.Glen Miller wrote:Agreed. Studge is confident, but he is also a lovely lad when interacting with fans and young children. Balotelli would probably turn up late to a charity event at a poor school in his camouflage Lambo and not say a word.

Keyser Söze wrote:Because we aren't discussing anything when I do stuff like that. When we do discuss football related things I do it properly, you don't.
Edit: lol, you're upset because I said the press officers at Liverpool tell players what to say? It's the truth, nothings outlandish at all about a comment like that. Just because it isn't what you want to hear you start crying like a child.

This is exactly what I mean. Way to have a proper discussion.
