He will be going for £70-£80 million. (Or less + Sanchez).
Barcelona are reportedly (by Guardian, BBC etc) happy to meet the release clause. Negotiations are over method of payment/structure, not the fee itself.Scott_LFC wrote:
Can't wait for when it's official, and everywhere says £70-80 million, including Barcelona.

I like your tin-hat, RR. Where can I get one?Scott_LFC wrote:Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC 23 mins
Luis Suarez to Barcelona will, as expected, be a £75m cash deal. None of #LFC spending so far dependent on his sale

So, let me get this straight. If the BBC or the English media say £75 million, it's just bullshit that Liverpool have fed them, but if Spanish press/Balague are quoting a different fee, it's gospel?

Yeah, so it's probably not true. Sky Sports say it's £75 million.

What reason does Ballague have to say the fee is smaller than it really is? What reason do Barcelona have to leak unduly low figures? Remember, low transfer spending makes their President look like a tight arse.

Ballague has no reason to be bias he Barcelona's favour. He hates them and is fairly open about being a Liverpool fan.Scott_LFC wrote:ResurrectionRooney wrote:

As long as it doesn't say "*made up" at the bottom it's as reliable as anything else.

But Liverpool Football Club has been surviving over the years. I go back to watching Roger Hunt and Ian St John and then along came Kevin Keegan and along came Kenny Dalglish and along came Ian Rush.
“You were always worrying if there’ll be someone else, but sooner or later there is a superstar. Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler came along and then Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.
Basically what I said earlier. There's got to be someone. It can't just stop ..............

We only ever reached midtable mediocrity under King Kenneth. We'll be in midtable superiority, hopefully pushing for toptable inferiority.Mason wrote:

Liverpool won't finish in the top four next season
They will just spend that £65m on overrated english players and slip back down the shitter.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Great discussion here as always.
I'm glad Suarez was sold, I don't care how good he is, he's mental. Three bites already, and while I doubt he'll do it again, I'm glad he's off our books and we were able to get a decent fee despite the ban.
Pretty dreadful players we're being linked with though, fuck this overrated overpriced english shit, sign some unknown foreigner with some potential a la Wenger please. Didn't mind Lambert as it was a dream move for him, it was reasonably priced, and he put in 100% effort when he plays but u must be laffin with the rest of these targets.

Agreed with pretty much all of that. Besides Lovren, none of the players we're linked with are an improvement on what we already have.Dagbon wrote:Great discussion here as always.

We've signed Can and look like signing Markovic.

You should try and sign Di Maria. He's available and you have the money. Your only competition are PSG and Man United.
