Teaching abroad wouldn't be a bad call, better to go see places while you can. I'd assess my lifting options first though.

The pay isn't fantastic, but the cost of living is dirt cheap so it balances out. Plus you don't necessarily work the full hours that a normal teacher would. You maybe just do 4-5 hours of actual teaching on 4-5 days a week. You obviously need to spend a little bit of time doing lesson plans and marking work, but considering you already know the fuck out of the English language it should be very easy.

I met a few girls teaching in Thailand who lived together and still went out several times a week in one of the most different/interesting places there is. Sounds a lot more flexible than a 9-5 here.

Scott you like cars, what do you think of a Polo and/or Golf?

I was thinking of spending about £1k on the car, then I think I can get insured for 500-600 for a year.

Prefer the Golf over a Polo. What engine you thinking? GTI ftw, but expensive insurance Laughing Polo might be better on insurance. I do like the look of the old Golfs, though.

I've gone off hatchbacks, though. Want to get rid of my shitty Corsa and get a BMW 3 series M Sport, but that would take a huge chunk out of my savings and I'm meant to be saving for my own place.

That BMW looks amazing, but like you said probably not worth it money wise.

Hopefully 1.4 or better. I checked insurance on golfs of that size and it's only an extra 100-200.

I've grown up around those general parts of civilization, so I can't see you using up more than a few brain cells for teaching English, even at a fairly high level. As long as you got the bore basics of grammar. Anyway, better you look back as an old man, at adventures abroad, than adventures round an office block.

Yeah I think you're right. It's not even really like working, I reckon it would be a laugh teaching kids English even during the actual work bit. Regarding the other cultures, I think there tends to be a foreigner bubble around English teaching places. Westerners tend to stick together when abroad in those circumstances. Should still be a variety of locations where the people are from, so still interesting.

That said, I would too like to live in London at some point in my life. If I get the chance to live there with my friend for a couple of years I might try and do that first. I can go abroad alone more easily than I could move to London I reckon.

I think if you have a university degree it is generally pretty straight forward to do Thailand. Some of the people I met even had forged degrees, which is a bit dodgy. Maybe they were in a worse school, I don't really know.

Obviously better schools are probably harder. I know that Japan and China are a lot more difficult to work in though.

I went on a little tour of most of the main California places, San Francisco was one. Couldn't go to Alcatraz though because you had to book weeks in advance, kind of makes it difficult for tourists I guess. I was too young to appreciate it properly too, think it would be a very different experience now that I'm 22.

LA is, in my completely biased opinion, the best place on the earth. Just on the variety of things you can do here.

In one day you can catch some waves in Malibu in the morning, at noon hit up the Farmers Market for some fresh and delicious treats, experience a little culture by visiting the Getty in the afternoon and wrap up this magical day by participating in and honest to goodness clandestine cock fighting event ran by a portly Hispanic man only know as La Guadaña, the Spanish word for scythe.

All this and more all in 20 mile radius or less.
