D'Angelo was my favourite character, also, for season 1. When he first popped up on the screen, I thought, wow, this guy looks a bit annoying, but pretty soon my opinion was transformed. Great character and a great actor playing him. I think the moment he endeared himself to me was when he got sent to the pit and was observing the dealings there for the first time. He pulled a "wtf" face at how sloppy it was, which made me laugh, for some reason.

I particularly liked the scene where he was teaching Chess to one of the youths.

Anyone else find it hard to see Stringer Bell as one of the "bad" guys, at first? Idris Elba just looks more a "Police" type. (No, it's not because of Luther, as I haven't even seen that). He didn't seem to suit being on the bad side, to me. Got used to it, though.

I read Freakonomics last year, it talked about the economics of dealing and how if there's a market it's always going to be filled by people with no other route to success, regardless of what law enforcement does. The police just address the symptoms rather than the root causes, they only ever achieve short term gains. In a way it's counter productive, because cutting down on the amount of drugs in the system reduces supply, which ramps up the price and makes it more lucrative to get into it.

That disgusting wart on D'Angelo's mother's face. The only thing I paid attention to when she was on screen.

Yeah that's a keen observation, Stringer definately saw him self as better than the likes of Avon, Slim etc and saw himself as "above the game" etc. he gives off a vibe that makes him seem different from the Barksdale crew at first.

Anyone watching The Leftovers? Latest HBO series from the bloke who developed Lost. Interesting premise, a small amount of the world's population vanish with no apparent explanation. Decent cast.

It's an interesting plot, I'm waiting to see how it develops after a few episodes to judge if it's worth it.

Same. Other than Game of Thrones I've found most HBO stuff pretty slow starters, generally they've been worth it.

I've never watched Luther, you absolute cretin.

Why the fuck would I make that up? It has to be one of the most random, pointless things ever to make up.

I started the first episode on Netflix and got about 3 minutes into it before it decided to stop working, so I moved onto Homeland.

Right, here's the first screen shot of Luther on my Netflix account:

    Chat Thread - Page 6 ScreenShot2014-07-07at221810

Note the date it was last watched. 6/12/2013.

Note the white bar next to Episode 1.

Note how there's no red in this white bar.

Note how there's no other white/red bars next to any of the other episodes.

Now look what happens when I open up the 2nd episode and start playing it from 17 minutes in.

    Chat Thread - Page 6 ScreenShot2014-07-07at221917

    Note the date watched (today)

Note how a new bar has appeared next to episode 2

Note how the red part indicates how far into the episode I am

Note how the rest still have no bars.

Suck my dick, you absolute cockroach.
