He came on in the final during the 92 minute but unfortunately couldn't drag his team to glory. No doubt because of those 6 crippling months at Liverpool.

Benfica performed better than us in European competition last season. The only way we can universally compare clubs is by performance in Europe, it has its flaws, but it's the best source we have.

Every set of data has an anomaly, in this case its that one. I'm sure UEFA will try and correct that error.Scott M wrote:Moriarty wrote:Benfica is better than Arsenal, then.

I would consider Arsenal's accomplishments in Europe last season more impressive. The only way an EL performance trumps a last 16 finish is with the trophy, in my opinion. The Zlatan wrote:Benfica performed better than us in European competition last season. It's up for debate, I agree to an extent but it's kind of comparable to a domestic league situation. Say Everton beat Tottenham twice in one season but Tottenham still finish higher, it calls into question the legitimacy of each club's claims as to who is better.Moriarty wrote:I would consider Arsenal's accomplishments in Europe last season more impressive. I don't really think Benfica beat anyone who would come close to Arsenal, though. Leverkusen were probably their toughest opponents in the round of 32, then they comfortably beat Bordeaux, Newcastle, and a Kuyt-spearheaded Fenerbache side. The Zlatan wrote:It's up for debate, I agree to an extent but it's kind of comparable to a domestic league situation. I agree with you fully in that regard. But they made it to a European cup final and that's what counts to the people that decide. It's not a very reliable way to predict who's better, I have no doubt that Arsenal are better than Benfica, you look down the table and see PSG, Dortmund, Juventus, and they should be above Arsenal.Moriarty wrote:I don't really think Benfica beat anyone who would come close to Arsenal, though. I Know, it's exciting. I really hope we don't get Rooney, Suarez is much better. He's probably the best striker in the league.Keyser Söze wrote:Suárez wrote:I didn't say that

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Such a clause is surely intended to be known by teams that are interested in purchasing the player, or else how is it going to be of use to anyone? It was the logical thing to do to add that one pound and had it truly been a release clause, as Suarez' agent seems to have told Arsenal, then this whole thing would have been done and dusted by now.Dagbon wrote:In the midst of all this back and forth attempted trolling I'm going to give my honest opinion. Arsenal could've absolutely signed Suarez if it wasn't for that 40,000,001 bid. With that they showed that they had contact with his agent over a supposed buyout clause, indicating that one of Suarez or his agent was pushing for the move. But you guys fucked it up by making this painfully obvious with the plus one pound bid. When has a club ever bid a lump sum plus one? It shows a lack or respect, information being leaked, plus it'd mean selling to what the club sees as a rival for fourth. If you'd bid a nice round sum you probably wouldn't have pissed off the owners, and we'd be forced to move on an unsettled player.
Suarez is reportedly signing a contract extension. This is obviously so that there will be an actual buyout clause this time around. If you gunners can make champions league again this year, buy Suarez please. The talent will be missed but we need players who actually want to play for Liverpool and not some generic Champions League club.
Anyway, I truly believe that Rodgers had promised Suarez that he would sell him to a Champions League side and decided to go back on his word when he realized that we were the only club interested.

So .. full stop had a space before it, did it? Well, why would I, in an attempt to "edit" your post to make your grammar look bad, correct another part of your post? (getting rid of this so called space before the full stop)
