Darren Burgess, Liverpool's former head of fitness and conditioning, gave a fascinating insight into Suarez's character when he left the club in September last year. Burgess recalled playing in a training game and being on the end of some ferocious challenges from the forward.

"Luis Suarez's training intensity is unlike anything I've ever worked with," Burgess said at the time. "He just cannot lose. He booted the hell out of me. I looked angrily at him, but he just gesticulated as if to say: 'When you are on the field, you are one of us.'"

    Have you guys seen this?

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-winger-stewart-downing-gets-1751490

Downing does a Q&A and gets a shitload of stupid questions. My personal favourites are

"You finished 230948th on the Ballon D'or list, behind my mate Mak who plays for my school team. Did you expect to finish this high?"

    and

"In 2009 Pogatetz said you would eventually join a top 4 club. Do you think that will ever happen?"

@arpan_manutd Do you know any footballer (except you) who is neither footed?

@Jon Barbuti Which Premier League bench is the comfiest?

@Fergie's Hairdryer How do you get to the other side of the road when you don't know how to cross?

@marc sepetowski ?sepo_efc Do you consider yourself to be just as bad as jordan henderson?

Stuey Downinho hasn't been that bad. Read this: http://www.eplindex.com/27685/stewart-downing-statistical-analysis-liverpool-wingers-form.html

People tend to overplay the fact that he had had a 0 goals, 0 assists season. It's bad but a large factor in that is how poor the finishing was, he set up enough chances. I thought Henderson was much worse, he seemed to have no impact in matches.

Well obviously, the way we are playing right now suits downing.
But most of these questions are jokes, no need to defend him. He is playing well, we know that, he knows that and that's all that matters.

Sunderland is our next game. We have some pretty easy fixtures ahead of us. I say 5th is a good idea for a push. Where do you guys think we'll finish

    27 points up for grabs.

Figure we can get at least 16. Hopefully beat Everton and Newcastle .

I remember making a post on here in the summer on how Gerrard was still our best midfielder and people were chatting shit saying he should be dropped. I was laughed at. Now he's showing that I'm right.

While Lucas continues to be extremely over rated and Joe Allen continues to be fucking woeful, Gerrard is still boss.

Gerrard has done okay because we have held a high line & are attacking much more. As a result, of course, we are also conceding goals for fun as Lucas has to cover for Enrique, Johnson, and Gerrard at the same time. It would not surprise me if he blows his knees out again.

We would probably have been better off signing Sigurdsson than Allen in the summer. However, I do feel we would have had more success with this sort of team, had both of them been signed:

    Reina
    Glen-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
    Lucas-Allen
    Sigurdsson-Gerrad-Coutinho
    Suarez

Gerrard is playing some of his best football in the past few years, I think a lot of credit has to go to whoever is managing his fitness, he hasn't had a run of matches this long for what seems lik forever. Lucas has been poor since his return in my opinion, we badly need a proper destroyer, a top class DM.

Lucas isn't covering anyone particularly well. However touching upon the full backs, I think we'd be better off having one defensive minded full back and one who plays more like a wing back. Johnson is twice the player Enrique is so I think we should get a solid LB and leave Johnson as he is. Sort of like Barca did with Alves and Abidal, they could easily revert to a back 3 if Alves couldn't get back in time when the opposition were countering.

I'd personally like to see us set up like this when playing away for the rest of this season:

    PR
    AW - MS/SC - DA
    GJ - JH - SG - LL - JE
    LS
    DS

That wouldn't be a flat midfield 5, I just couldn't be arsed doing more lines. Johnson and Enrique wing backs. Henderson just in front of the other 2, going box to box, applying pressure. Gerrard as a regista. Lucas as a destroyer. Suarez and Sturridge up top. Coutinho in for Henderson in the home games, obviously he'd play a more creative and less workhorse like role.

It'd be similar to the Juve 3
    Pirlo - Gerrard
    Marchisio - Henderson
    Vidal - Lucas

To be fair to Lucas he has had two very bad injuries, and he might need until next season before we see him back to his consistant best.

    "Pirlo - Gerrard
    Marchisio - Henderson
    Vidal - Lucas"

Those players are on completely different levels. Lucas is our only midfielder who is even good enough to be a squad player for Juventus.

None of those players really play the same roles at all. I'd say Gerrard and Vidal is a closer pairing.
