Alan wrote:To be fair to Lucas he has had two very bad injuries, and he might need until next season before we see him back to his consistant best.

I think his form before injury was over rated. He had a few very good games but his glaring weaknesses were still apparent in all of the others.

    Moriarty wrote:"Pirlo - Gerrard
    Marchisio - Henderson
    Vidal - Lucas"

Those players are on completely different levels. Lucas is our only midfielder who is even good enough to be a squad player for Juventus.

Of course they're on different levels. I'm not comparing their ability, I'm comparing the playing style. And Juventus wouldn't even consider Lucas. Not even as a squad player.

SBSP wrote:None of those players really play the same roles at all. I'd say Gerrard and Vidal is a closer pairing.

I know they don't, because we play a completely different system. But if we were to play similar to how they do, that is how we should do it. Gerrard of today and Vidal are nothing like each other, Vidal's energy is out of this world. He's a DM that can play as a box to box midfielder, Gerrard could also play box to box in his younger days but he never played DM.

In our team Gerrard has played as a regista this season, with others around him doing more running, just like Vidal and Marchisio do Pirlo's running for him at Juve. Henderson in particular is a great athlete and our team functions much better with him in it at the moment, which is why he should play more from now to the end of the season.

Lucas and Enrique were fucking awful today. Gerrard, Suarez, Henderson and Coutinho impressed.

Lucas of old. Gerrard and Henderson put in better defensive performances. Needs to be dropped and if he doesn't recover, replaced.

I have Henderson blindness, I turned the game on right after he scored, and I didn't see him all match.

I woke up in time to see Gerrard's penalty. Suarez was the only player that impressed me in the final half hour, his nutmeg on Vlaar where he almost got past Guzan was superb.

He didn't dive for the penalty, either. Smile

We have started scoring some much nicer goals since Coutinho.

I've missed having a player that can play a through ball like he can. If Suarez stays I can see a nice partnership forming there. Can't believe he's only 20, so much talent already.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the Villa match was the first game we have won after giving up the first goal.

    Baby steps.

Reina played well. It's a shame that we kept on trying to outfox their keeper by repeatedly hitting it straight at him.

McCarthy was only good at the end, after we gave him loads of confidence boosting shots straight at him. Fair play though, those saves in ET were incredible.

Yeah, the two saves on Gerrard & the Suarez volley were good. Downing returned to his normal self by firing right at him from 12 yards, Sturridge looked like crap by blowing breakaway after breakaway, and Suarez looked like the player we had last year.

    There's always next season.
