The backheel or the chip for the second goal? That Henry and Luyindula combo was just too much for us to handle.

Re: Major League Soccer (MLS) Thread
Hate getting into stuff for next season while the current season is still going on, but there is so much that usually happens between seasons, that its hard to avoid. Biggest news is that Orlando City will release their new jerseys this Wednesday, and then NYCFC will release theirs on November 13. OCSC will stick to their purple, which will be an unique MLS look. If NYCFC somehow doesn't include pinstripes with their baby blue color, then I think they've failed massively, and left plenty of potential money on the table.
As for a calendar of events for the offseason, here is a quick look.
TBD - MLS Dispersal Draft for Chivas USA
December 7th, 2014 - MLS Cup Final
December 8th, 2014 - Trade window opens
December 10th, 2014 - MLS expansion draft
December 12th, 2014 - MLS re-entry draft phase one
December 19th, 2014 - MLS re-entry draft phase two
January 2nd to 6th, 2015 - MLS SuperDraft Caribbean combine
January 8th to 12th, 2015 - MLS SuperDraft combine
January 15th, 2015 - MLS SuperDraft

This one should look rather good.
This one doesn't reveal much (hopefully it's just darken, but the badges on there makes it a bit confusing)

Re: Major League Soccer (MLS) Thread
United losing $7m-$10m annually for just playing at RFK Meeting going on right now about a report done on the study of a new United stadium at Buzzard Point. It would be a $286.7m project, which would be the most expensive project in MLS. But, the stadium itself, is only $150m, which isn't the most expensive stadium in MLS, and the stadium itself is being fully funded by the team.
The city will front the other $136m, capping up to $150m. But most of that money is land acquisitions cost. There are complicated land swaps going on, but one of the main sticking points is that the city is taking a $30m loss on the land swaps. DC United and Akridge (one of the developers) already covered $5m of that, but I think it would smooth things over if somehow United and Akridge would stroke the $25m check to cover the rest of it.
Other than the land acquisition costs, the city is covering the horizontal costs, which is normal for any new developments. Horizontal being anything not directly related to the stadium itself. Water/sewage lines, sidewalks, electricity, etc. etc. etc. United then covers all the vertical costs -- the stadium itself.

The chip.

Re: Major League Soccer (MLS) Thread
Yeah that chip was immaculate, and Luyindula did very well to take it down and keep the ball alive when scoring (many a MLS-er would have taken a bad first touch and ruined the chance).
It didn't help though that our two center backs were standing five feet from each other defending one player (presumably BWP), allowing a huge hole in the middle of the field. Kitchen tried to cover the run, but Luyindula was by him at the time Kitchen realized what was going on. Still, hardly a classier player than Henry when he picks his moments to shine.

34 year-old Robbie Keane, fresh from nabbing the MLS MVP accolade, scores what looks to be the winning goal in the league/cup final.

Why not post the retirement picture after the Giovinco signing?

MLS still takes a loss for handing Altidore a 30 million dollar contract though. Well, I read that somewhere, I'm still hoping it's bull, haven't been able to sleep since.
Still mad about Diskerud to Tijuana falling through. Would have been fun mentioning how Tijuana has more American players than some MLS sides whenever the Red Bulls were on.

I can think of a few more appropriate times to post it such as when Gerrard realised he wasn't good enough for Liverpool any more so opted to go and become LA Galaxy's superstar player or when Lampard realised he was still good enough for the Premier League and decided to stay at Manchester City, abandoning New York. The best time to post it though would surely have been when fat fucking Ronaldo, who actually retired four years ago because his body was breaking down, talking about having a kick about in MLS for the club he bought. You've got off extremely lightly with retirement home jokes lately, and signing a terrible striker who Juventus didn't want any more doesn't alter that.

Jose Mari leaves second division in Spain for Colorado Rapids, plays for a year, heads to Levante in La Liga, confirming retirement league narrative of MLS.

Never heard of him. Just looked him up, 36 years old.
He stayed in a retirement home then went back to his old house.

I think you looked up the wrong guy. This is a 27 year old midfielder that used to play for Zaragoza.

I guess the MLS is still the retirement home for quality footballers, I am not sure how they will be able to change that. If you look at the really here this country is a nice place to retire if you can deal with the extensive political crap.

That explains quite a lot. The first Jose Mari that comes up on Google is this guy, if this other one isn't famous enough to even be mentioned in disambiguation on Wikipedia then he's not worthy of my attention.

I am - increase salaries and pay for it through wealthy investors. UEFA's FFP initiative reduces investment to directly attract players, if MLS can attract the next generation of Abramoviches and DICs, sign genuine stars and sell the TV rights to their league internationally then they can become a genuine competitor to the top European leagues, and indeed to UEFA itself.
The first steps of this are already happening. A lot of people see NYCFC as a way for Manchester City to evade the FFP restrictions, but it's not, it's ADUG's attempt to repeat the Manchester City trick in a market that will get them more prestige, where their investment won't be limited and where their competitors aren't nearly so powerful as the G14.

"Portugal has produced a Messi contender, but their league is top heavy, their NT didn't get out of WC group, and best players play abroad"
Not too bad for a retirement league to pip that on the world's biggest stage.

All hail the 27 year olds retiring early then heading back to La Liga. Or 36. Can't remember how Google works.

To be fair, it took me a few Google searches to find his Wikipedia, and that was only because I knew what I was looking for. You have to search "Jose Mari Levante wikipedia."
