I would love Roy Keane to become Nottingham Forest manager, just for his interviews and press conferences, rarely a dull moment. Laughing

Danny Woodards decided to activate his clause in his contract to stay with us for a further year. While Lee Brown has extended his contract until 2014. cheers

Apparently our two un-named trialists are Mark Hughes who used to play for Barnet and Jordan Keegan who is a pacy winger.

Carayol is a long-term target, with Mowbray having travelled to Southend to watch the Gambian at first hand last season.

Boro officials have held a number of discussions with their Bristol Rovers counterparts in an attempt to secure Carayol's signature, but the 23-year-old's price has been a sticking point.

Rovers are hoping to receive more than £500,000, as they have to pay a 20 per cent sell-on clause to Carayol's former employers, Lincoln City.

Middlesbrough have been reluctant to match the League Two club's asking price, but a latest round of talks proved fruitful and Carayol was not involved in Bristol Rovers' opening pre-season friendly last weekend.

Rovers boss Mark McGhee has already said he will not stand in Carayol's way if a deal can be agreed, and a resolution looks increasingly likely before Boro head to Portugal on a pre-season training trip next week.
Would take that without a second thought. Half a season where he preforms and get 500k? Yes please. But he didn't participate in our first pre-season game because he had a hamstring problem and he wasn't the only absentee.

I know, he's also on the last year of his contract. Poor Middlesbrough if they get him for that under the circumstances. I can see him flopping in the first 6 months getting a loan to league one and finding his level there or a fall back down to league two. He's not as good as people have made out. He's got no final ball. All pace and tricks.

They, Southampton, have been signing a lot of good players. They could get a lot better than Gazzianga for the same price. Neutral

£2.5m could be a good price is 4-5 years though. He's only 19 but it's definately a risk, he's only been playing in Gillingham's first team since January but he did look promising.

I doubt any of it will be reinvested in Gillingham's team though, chairman is tight as arseholes. They're struggling to hold onto their best players, their 2 best are being sold. Gonna be struggling next year me thinks! npower Football League Thread - Page 3 1735100789

A lot are giving him a chance but wasn't their first choice. The annoying thing for Gills fans is the chairman saying this appointment will be a safe one after their last 2 were risks (non-league managers) but I wouldn't say Allen is 100% safe atall!

Apparently another Gillingham midfielder Jack Payne is off to Reading. Gills must be rolling in the money if all these deals go through, and if Jarvis gets sold they will get a % of that aswell. npower Football League Thread - Page 3 3312119548

Gazzaniga might benefit from going to Southampton actually with Kelvin Davies being 35. npower Football League Thread - Page 3 279869

He can't be that much worse than Butland and if he's £9m then £2.5 is good business for both clubs. He's still shakey, he flaps at a lot and likes to punch than catch at corners. Distribution is great though. I hope to see him on MOTD in the next few years. npower Football League Thread - Page 3 9905

Re Allen: I imagine he'll do a decent job with Gillingham at the start with but as soon as they go through a sticky patch, he'll make too many drastic changes therefore upsetting the clubs harmony. I'd be surprised if he lasted the season.

Apparently we only got 50k for Lines which I thought was a rip off but now the clauses have come into play after their promotion. 200k if they got promotion and 160k when he makes over 30 appearnces and theres a sell on fee. Result.

Not the end of it though we still have to sell the Mem to Sainsburys but only if they get approval to build a store there. Half way there!
