Honda isn't in the squad either. He was playing for CSKA in their first game of the season.

Re: Football at the 2012 Olympics
The decision has been made with Japan's World Cup qualifiers in mind, with the Japanese association hoping to give their star midfielder time to rest and undertake a full pre-season this summer.
Hara confirmed: "Kagawa is one of the leading members of the Japan national senior team and he is almost certainly going to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"We came to the conclusion that not giving him enough rest is not good for his future nor our final World Cup qualifiers. I talked to Kagawa directly and told him he would not be chosen.''

Japan are playing quite well, they could be dark horses in this tournament.

Spain don't half dick about with it at the back.
Kagawa would have loved this.

Japan should be really out of sight in this game. Spain have been quite poor.

Well deserved win. Finishing is going to be the death of the Japanese though.

Re: Football at the 2012 Olympics
The Olympics coverage coverageb here is great because every game I do believe will be shown live on TV. Over here NBC will have a special network devoted to only football so you can eventually watch every game even if you missed it the first time.

Spain was lucky today. Japan should have scored 3-4 goals.
