Surprised Louis van Gaal hasn't been mentioned.

I have no idea what you are talking about but he hasn't won a trophy for 12 years and that was winning a 3rd tier league.Alan wrote:Yes maybe he is, but thats only 3 years more than some managers he has went without a trophy.Theo Filippo wrote:He's overrated anyway.

I have mentioned him a couple of times. However, I agree. He hasn't be mentioned at all by pundits.
He is a great manager. I would be very happy if he got the job.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
The Independent are saying Capello is interested but there's no contact.
Meanwhile, a few places saying Martinez will go to America this weekend for further talks.
If this is all true, that means two of the most successful managers in the game have been overlooked for Martinez.
Why would that be? Why does the age of a manager matter? Do they expect him to play?
It's because they want the power to dictate what he does. A manager like Martinez is at the start of his career. He's in no position to be arguing back with the owners. They want this because of what I said earlier. Their aim is to make us a selling club (the only way to make money in football).
When they think a player is at peak value, they will force the manager to sell. Regardless of whether we need them or not.
Can you imagine a manager like Rafa or Capello standing for that? Of course not.
Scary times.

Im holding out hope for Rafa or Capello now in that case.. If neither of them then AVB.
The thing is if they pick Martinez, who has limited credentials in just keeping Wigan up, if he gets off to a poor start then there's gonna be unrest.

If you can get Capello, you should get Capello.
However, yeah.. that's probably how they are thinking. Which sounds a tad scary...

Not a great manager? He has worked miracles with the tight budget and players he has been provided. He is the sole reason theyended 7th in the league, above Liverpool I might add. He has the transfer market prowess that L'pool desperately need. His signing of Jelavic for 5mil was pure inspiration, easily one of the signings of the season.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
He consistently has half a shot season, much worse than the squad that he has, he's had all his players more or less fit as well. Having a good second half may be enough to get 7th but not for a team looking for the top 4

He must have either told him he doesn't want to play in a meaningless friendly, or boned his wife/daughter. It's the only logical explanation.
