Why would Martinez leave a Premier League club to be a DOF which he has no experience as?

I've read the latest is that Martinez will be manager. Van Gaal is going to be DoF and he's already interfering by wanting the goalkeeper coach that coached Reina at Barca.

This whole business is so complicated with too many different groups trying to come to an agreement, it sounds like there's going to be a hell of a lot of back room staff..

Sounds/Looks like FSG are trying to structure Liverpool after the Baseball model. Seperating the Manager role into Front Office (General Manager and Sporting Director) and Coaching staff (Manager and assistant + coaches). It's a bit of an odd thing to be doing that's for sure. Who knows, maybe the experience they have from Baseball will actually ensure that it works. I personally doubt it, but you never know, stranger things have happened.
