Addiction? I'm sure you mean obsession. I don't have one, I'm just sayin' that he's a waste of wages. You could have got a decent striker on those wages.
To be fair, he looked a half decent player in his loan spell and even Charlton were apparently interested. It's obvious he has it in his locker when he wants to play. You probably don't even know his contract terms either so I don't know why you bought that up.
and aswell, I am pretty sure it wasn't a players wages which cost Gillingham not getting in the playoffs.
He was on a couple of grand a week here, he said himself he wanted to move to a London (or there abouts) club who can offer the same terms or near enough as we were. He certainly wouldn't have come to you if he was earning a lot less than he was with us.
That's generally what happens when a player wants a new deal or a move, they step their game up for potential clubs. He's a decent player when that happens, and sometimes he does have brilliant spells in his game. His problem is he can't finish. I've seen him time and time again go on some brilliant runs but for a striker he has no end product.
I never said his wages cost you. I meant that paying those wages out to a player who hasn't got the ability to be consistent is what cost you.
