Just imagine if Rafa stayed with these owners, you would have a starting lineup of:
Torres
Suarez - Mata - Silva
Alonso - Mascherano
He would have made this happen with the funds, I'm certain. Suarez - Mata - Silva
Alonso - Mascherano

Mc Babel wrote:Kenny tells Comolli he needs a striker of a particular skill set (target man for example) and Comolli and the scouts go out and find options. They come back with these options and a group of people at the club (including Comolli, Kenny, Steve Clarke and the chief scout) all watch them and give an assessment. If the majority of the group think the potential target would be a good signing its then given a green light as a potential target and left to Kenny to decide whether we go for him or not.
Damien Comolli.
"As I have always said, if Kenny is not happy with a player we think could make the team better, or if he thinks it is not the right timing, it will always be down to the manager to say he is not happy."
Sounds like Comolli goes out and finds players, and if Kenny is not happy about he speaks out.
DoF should have set out a way we should play when he came. A philosophy. Manchester United, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Swansea, Stoke ect .. they all have one. After all, he is complete control of everything football related in the club apart from training and team selection.
Once you have a style of play, transfers should be easier. Barcelona know a Barcelona players when they see one, Swansea know a Swansea Players when they see one, Even Stoke City buy players that fit there style of play. Do we have a style of play? No. We bought different players, for different styles of play. This should have been sorted a season ago. Kenny got us playing some nice football last season, in a certain style of play. Why did we throw it away, and start from scratch and bought players with 'good stats'?It makes no fucking sense.
It was Billy Bean that recommending Comolli to FSG. A fucking Baseball coach, recommending naive American Owners about Comolli because they both like stats. Also when FSG bought the club, they seeked advice from people inside the club. At the time, Purslow still had a role in the club, and inside the club there was a feeling that we had to make the Club English again. There were to many foreigners at the club. Even some senior squad players thought this. The Media during Rafas last days, were banging on about making the club "English" again. Which goes completely against the clubs ethos. I would presume that they were advised to make the club more English, and focus on bring young English talent to the club. Sunderland journalists are saying Henderson was an Comlolli signing, and with many other reports saying Adam and Downing were both his to. I don't believe Comolli came up with the buy British shite. I believe the owners were poorly advised by people previously at the club.
More meets the eye, regarding are DoF, and our owners. And this goes without saying, Kenny has flopped a bit in the league as our manager. I believe FSG wanted an young coach, not Kenny as full time manager but because how well he performed last season, they had no choice.
This summer we will find the true intentions of our owners, and DoF. In how much net spend we spend, and what type of players we buy. Do we go with this statistical British players of recruiting, or do we set out a style of play, and recruit players that would make us play that way. After all, the Director of Football model is so that the DoF is long term, and managers can be easily fired and moved on.
I am not looking forward to the summer transfer window, and it goes without saying. May have rambled on a bit, but we always seem to fuck everything up all the time, and learn lessons the hard way. I believe the DoF model can work, but Comolli is the wrong man for the job.

I wouldn't be suprised if Kenny will be gone if we lose to Everton next Saturday, and finish 8th or below.

It seems like jordan has been replaced with someone else. I don't remember him posting stuff like this.

Also dan was a good poster before his girlfriend cheated on him. All he did before he left was moan at everyone for thinking differently to him.

Tony Evans is saying we didn't spend the Merieles money this January. So we will probably be spending it this summer.

£36 Million net spend since they have been here.NZG wrote:time to see if FSG will invest or not. Net spent of 2 million right?
£12 Miilion net spend for each window.
H+G had a bigger net spend, the first summer they had. They probably didn't spend a single penny out of there own money, and then they started asset stripping us the next transfer windows.
Plus we have the stadium issue.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
I can already picture Summer being absolutely shit, with next to zero signings. I mean, who are we going to get? Why would we buy another striker when we have Kuyt, Bellamy, Suarez and the 35 million man, Carroll? How can we justify turning Carroll into a permanent bench player next season? Why would we buy another central midfielder when we have the undroppable Gerrard, the irreplaceable Lucas in the middle, with Henderson, Adam, Shelvey and Spearing fighting for a place on the bench?
I suppose if we're going to sign anyone, it's going to be a winger or a defender. Because, unless we cut our losses and get rid of some of the players we bought last summer, I can't foresee us buying players in positions we've already got in abundance.
I predict Carragher to retire, and Coates to take his place on the bench, with Agger, Skrtel and Coates our main centre back choices. Perhaps we'll bring in another half-decent centre back due to Agger's chronic injuries. Wouldn't get my hopes up though, I mean, who's there to get?
I predict we'll keep hold of all of our summer signings. Lucas will be like a new signing and will slot straight back into the team, Gerrard will partner him in the middle, as he's undroppable. Adam, Henderson, Spearing and Shelvey will stay and fight for a place on the bench, though I can see Shelvey going on loan somewhere. Cannot see us bringing anyone into the fold.
Downing will stay and be a starter on the left next season, imo. I'm unsure on Maxi, though I have a feeling he'll stay too. Same with Kuyt. Every season we Liverpool fans think we'll sell Maxi and Kuyt, but we never do. If we're going to bring in a player, it'll be a winger. Or, at least, it better be. Wouldn't be surprised if we bought a Premier League winger though. Maybe raid Swansea for Dyer. That's the best we'll probably get. Sterling should be promoted to first team.
Can't see any change in our striker situation. Suarez will start every game, Carroll will start the occasional game, swapping with Bellamy and Kuyt.
Sorry for the long post, but my point is, who the fuck are we going to buy? Not as simple as people seem to make out.
