Unrelated but , Lionel Messi has said his next goal in life is fatherhood . Hopefully he can achieve this without Xavi and Iniesta

It's not Xavi and Iniesta that make Messi who he is, it's Barca's system of play, he flourishes and there isn't a player to ever walk on this planet, past or present, who is capable to play that role as well as him.

Tbh anyone with pace like his would look good at Bolton.
I'll admit though, he's a better passer than I gave him credit for. Always thought AOC trumped him in that department. If only Lee wasn't injured.

Alex Song averages more successful through balls per game (0.7) than any other Premier League player - with David Silva and Luka Modric in second and third.

His technique for passing is very unique, he almost scoops the ball up with his ankle.
Amazing player.

He has more time, space and options to pick from though.

Than Silva though? At home City have a lot of space and he has like five other players to pass to when he drops deep, Modric plays as a regista so he plays technically a similar role like Song does offensively.Marvin wrote:He has more time, space and options to pick from though.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Silva gets doubled up on quite a fair few times and it's not really the same dropping deep as opposed to starting off deep and moving forward.Gegilworld93 wrote:Than Silva though? Spurs focus more on width than getting players in behind, their usual style of play is different to Arsenal's.

So do countless other midfielders, they however, have not done what Song has done?

I'm not saying he's shit or anything, I know he's a great passer. I'm just saying it's silly using that stat to compare him to Silva, etc.
