If we're going to blow £20+ mill on one player we could do a lot better than Podolski tbh, I don't really believe he's going to be sold for 15m. None the less, progress is progress

I'd rather we not blow £20 million on anyone really.

Far too much money, I'm sure we can find great players for less.

I don't like Podolski at all. He's a good player, at Köln. He hasn't been proven at higher level, although I do have to admit he's been pretty good in the NT. Nonetheless, he flopped at Bayern.

He's what, 26, 27 years old now? He's not going to make any major progress, he's hit his peak. Splashing out 20m on a player who is already on his peak, who is unproven at high level, who has flopped for Bayern, who seems an arrogant player given by the reports, doesn't seem like good business to me. I do think there are better options.

Lucas Biglia told by Arsenal: You must improve to earn summer move

Biglia is all but certain to quit Anderlecht at the end of the season, having enjoyed a hugely successful six years in Belgian football, winning six trophies, including the Pro League title twice, while also claiming the Young Player of the Year accolade in his first campaign.
However, despite the success, the 26-year-old is desperate to add to his six caps for Argentina, and believes a move across Europe will help bolster his chances of becoming a regular for the La Albiceleste.

A technically excellent defensive midfielder with a speciality for set pieces, Biglia had seemed destined for a move to Spain next term, with Valencia and Villarreal both monitoring the player in recent weeks, but it now seems likely that the Premier League will also be an option, after Arsenal stepped up their interest.
The Gunners have held a tentative interest in Biglia for around 18 months, but make their move last Thursday, when trusted scout Gilles Grimandi made contact with Biglia's agent, after watching his Anderlecht team-mate Matias Suarez impress against AZ Alkmaar.

Arsenal remain keen on Suarez, but sections of the Belgian media suggest Grimandi told Biglia's representatives that the club are still following him, but must see a bigger improvement before they consider making a bid.

Anderlecht are already resigned to losing Biglia, but would command a fee of at least £15 million, with the Argentine maestro signing a new contract until 2015 less than 12 months ago.

Arsenal are said to be keen on adding to their central midfield ranks when the transfer window re-opens, having previously been linked with Rennes star Yann M'Vila and Racing contract rebel Claudio Yacob.

    http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/891653-lucas-biglia-told-by-arsenal-you-must-improve-to-earn-summer-move

I don't think we need him, we already have a billion and a half central midfielders.

It proper winds me up when people slate Chamakh so much to the point of thinking he's completely shite. This was the same player who made a massive impact in the start to his first season with us and one of the reasons we were doing so well up until Christmas. Then after that, van Persie was fully fit and starting games so was obviously dropped and rarely played. No player is going to light up without a run of games, he isn't exactly world class but he's not as bad as everyone puts him out to be.
