Seriously, we have one of the most average squads in football and our press and deluded fans still expect so much.

Since it looks like your manager is going to be 'Arry, you may as well assume you'll be playing 4-4-2.

If we're playing 4-4-2 as mena said...
I feel as if we're weak at left midfield, unless we play someone out of position.

Bench:
A goalkeeper
G Johnson (He can play both right and left back)
Phil Jones (He can play all across the backline + in midfield)
Lampard
A Johnson
Chamberlain
Zamora
I know you will laugh at Zamora, but he is the best option outside of Rooney if only one is played up front. Pretty good in the air, works fairly hard and gives England a target at crosses.
It was tough choosing 2 out of Walcott, Chamberlain and Downing for the bench so I went for pace over delivery.
EDIT: Knew i'd forget someone. Replaced Walcott with Sturridge.

I was just wondering, does England have a hard tackling defensive midfielder? I'm talking about the Torrado, Mendel, Arevalo type player.
Well actually I'm sure you have lots of that type of player but I never really see them on the England team sheets. Admittedly I'm quite ignorant about English football in general but I think that's the role Scott Parker is supposed to fill right?
By the way I'm talking about a Lee Cattermole type player but you know, not Lee Cattermole.

We've played 4-2-3-1 lately, with Parker and someone else behind a front 4. So don't assume anything. Harry will play the best formation that suits the players, players he knows well as he works in this country and is English.menalawyerguy wrote:Since it looks like your manager is going to be 'Arry, you may as well assume you'll be playing 4-4-2.

Scott Parker does it really well for Tottenham.Ché Guayaba wrote:I was just wondering, does England have a hard tackling defensive midfielder? I'm talking about the Torrado, Mendel, Arevalo type player.

To be fair, it doesn't matte if England play 4-4-2 as long as Rooney is playing because he'll drop back often anyway. Rooney + Bent could replicate the Rooney-Hernandez partnership I guess. Although I bet Bent isn't even in the squad if Harry is in charge
This is why I want a foreign manager who has no bad history with players for England.

He will already be influenced on the likes of Bent though.

So? it means he knows his players. He knows Bent doesn't work well with Defoe, and what system Bent is not good in.Britfag wrote:easley91 wrote:Harry will pick who's best for the game/tournament. I trust Harry for England *just not til the summer*

The majority of you picking Bent over Welbeck depresses me.

Bent's 9 goals to Welbeck's 6 doesn't lie.Kuled wrote:The majority of you picking Bent over Welbeck depresses me.

Sigh. Defoe isn't better than Bent in any system. This is the problem.

He's got Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge and Chamberlain on his list. He's hardly going to pick Defoe ahead of them.
