    He said both of them should not go to the euro's, only one plus Ledley King, Dawson, Phil Jones, Cahill.

    I preferred Ferdinand in his prime, but I think he's gone over the edge now fitness wise. Has to be Terry.....though he doesn't have that guaranteed spot he has enjoyed for so long.

    I wouldn't pick Rio for a penalty either.

    Terry is more much likely to score from a set piece though. People go on about Rio's loss of pace, Terry never had any to start with and is a better footballer imo.

    Image has more meaning than just taking the penalty. But I do agree both won't be first picks to take the kick.

    I was going to mention Terry's ability to score but didn't find it important enough to bring into the discussion.

    Just because he played for Forest Laughing.

    I'm not against Dawson starting, but he has just 4 caps....not captain material yet.

    Besides....he hasn't played too much this season due to injury....he will really struggle to get picked when there's good competition for the spots.

    Arguably the best pairing at the back would be Dawson and King because they already play together well.

    It would be essential to have at least one of these in the squad though.

    I'd go with Ferdinand and Smalling to start. Problem with Ferdinand though is that he is very very injury prone these days, so maybe the new manager won't take him. You can't have Smalling and Terry for obvious reasons, so maybe it will be Cahill alongside Smalling or Terry.
