Why do people dislike the England National Team?
Guest- Guest
I dislike it because most of the players currently on the NT are dimwitted brutes. Plus there is Capello.

I support the national team, some people don't support them because of the players themselves, too many come accross as egotistical and selfish rather than taking pride in representing England, and because of club rivalry amongst the likes of Man United and Liverpool.

We are not supposed to use that term these days. We are supposed to say 'British' now which is fucking ridiculous. Thats what my hairdresser was told.

I support England, the fact that cunts like Terry, Cole, Gerrard etc.. has never bothered me. Would probably now, there's better, younger players I'd rather see.
But a few reasons is the whole rivalry between the clubs, not a lot of the experienced players appear to give a shit, the FA's a bit of a joke and the media just seem to do everything to damage the team.
And our current manager, and the previous one, is a fucking joke.

I don't really watch any more England unless in a tournament as it's a good when everyone is on the same side. It gets boring and repetitive seeing us beat San Marino or whoever 10-0 every time and then draw/lose against a slightly better team. I'm proud to support them but the media and current players turn me away.
Makes me glad that I'm not a glory hunter.

I guess it's because most people think that the England teams are made up of over-paid, egotistical nob-heads who all-ways let us down.
Well, that's what most of the people at the pub said during the England Vs Germany game last year.

Over time, my feelings towards England have slowly faded and I'm not sure why.
Having said that, I supported them massively the last World Cup.
I recall the build up to the World Cup being full of very intense, heated discussions about how USA were better than England, and vice-versa (on the EA forums).
Then the game came, which ended 1-1 and EA was full of non-stop trolling about how the USA 'won' 1-1, and about Green's blunder, etc, etc. The game didn't settle anything at all
Quite wrong, Scotty boy. All we heard about before the game was how much better England was, and how they would roll over us and the rest of the group to secure an easy passage to the knockout stages. Instead, England failed to beat a side of MLS players, a league which people (especially English folk) love to rag as being piss poor quality. So in fact, the game did settle something England, in reality, as a national team, was no better than the United States, something that would have never been admitted otherwise.
As for the New York Post picture you reference (USA Wins 1-1), they were capitalizing on the fact that the creators of the game, the "home of football" could not manage to beat a side of MLS players. Proved prophetic too, when the US finished top of the group, and not England.

Probably because the games are so boring. Friendlies and World Cup qualifies against Eastern European minnows are tedious. The only excitment comes once every few years but lately that hasn't been any good either.
I'll still be cheering England on down the pub in Euro 2012 but this time I have lower expectations, I'd like to be pleasantly surprised!

I remember at Uni when it was the last Euro qualifiers and England were against Croatia, someone set the fire alarm off in the SU bar 2 minutes before full time so like 30 people legged it to our flat (and every ground floor flat for that matter).
When England lost, some mardy cunt kicked our bin in and set the fire alarm off in our flat.
Maybe that's why I don't like England fans...

I do support them in the major tournaments but i've not properly watched them since the World Cup 2010 as i lost a lot of hope in them after that. I don't really even support England in rugby league as well apart from when we play Australia.

That was The Sun, so you can never take any of their stuff seriously. If you do, you're an idiot.Lu❣s Suarez wrote:I dislike it because most of the players currently on the NT are dimwitted brutes. Plus there is Capello.

It wasn't the England team who wrote the headline 'EASY' it was The Sun newspaper, who are part of the English media. The English media blows everything out of proportion, from our tournament chances to controversial incidents and injuries going into a tournament.Lu❣s Suarez wrote:Sun is not English media?

The Sun isn't a real paper It's just something to have a laugh at when you're feeling down, It's ran by racist bigots who still think we are in WW2. The only reason it is still going is because it's only red top rivals are the Sunday Sport which is a cheap mans porn mag, Type it in on Google images it's hilarious (Bin Laden on the toilet made the front page). Their other rival is the Star, which as you can tell by the name is a blatant rip-off. Also I remember reading somewhere that the reading age required for the sun was 7 years old.
On Topic: I agree with a lot of people in here that not supporting the national team is seen as being "cool" and a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon. Personally I love England I will support all of the players in that white shirt regardless of what club they play for. When Rooney has that white shirt on I love the guy, and a few of United supporting mates feel the same towards Liverpool players. I think only "casual" football fans actually dislike the national team, purely because a lot of them are glory-hunters.

The English people seem to prefer their clubs over the National Team. The media does it's part in revealing bad things about the National Team and its players. At the same time, the team is overrated so they end up doing worse than what is expected of them. Finally, the players themselves don't play with as much heart as they do with their clubs.

Your players are pretty cuntish, and the sense of entitlement the English people seem to feel is obnoxious.

Give us the World Cup, fuck the haters If the country that invented the sport can get a world cup once in 70 years after almost every other major nation hosts it more than that I'll accept that FIFA are bribed cunts, but atleast saw sense eventually. - Not even joking. But yeah, I don't think there's any other "sense of entitlement", but if that's it then oh well, deal with it (as should FIFA).
Being overrated in the World Cup..... . Thinking we will breeze a groups stage is ridiculous, but blame the media for that....I don't think many actually thought that we'd find it easy. But...we're still a good team, who get knocked out by big teams.....for one reason or another. Sometimes outplayed, sometimes we fuck ourselves over, sometimes the officials do it for us. I think it's unrealistic to say we're the best/2nd/3rd best...but we're one of the best and I think anyone who says crap like "England aren't even top 10" are just seriously trolling. But yeah.....I don't think many English people think we're any better than we really are..it's just a false perception...perhaps something that is hanging over our heads from years of high expectation, English media at it's worst/best (depending on how you think of it), and underachieving.
I'd honestly say that there's worse countries/cultures when it comes to being cunts. Off the pitch? Probably not, but then our media bring out more stories than anyone...so there's bound to be more cunts found out. But on the pitch we're hardly perfect, but better than most.

Have some pride in what exactly?
The overrated players that seem to be of the opinion that they are better than they actually are, that get involved in scandals every other week? Maybe the media that highlights the teams potential to win every fucking tournament under the sun, despite the players not actually being very good? Or maybe it's when the media looks to blame everybody besides the actual players for the failings of the national side? Oh that Swiss ref, them diving Argies, cheating Portuguese and the Uruguayan linesman if it weren't for them.. Maybe the pride should be centred around the people that run football in this country, paying millions to bring some of the best managers (and Steve fucking McClaren) to manage the national team... and then treating them like fucking shit, while worshipping the actual English managers like they are some sort of God? What about the lauding of shite English managers over the actual world class foreign managers that exist? You know, that xenophobic mentality that most of the country seems to possess and suddenly thinks it's ok when it comes to football? What about the hype around certain players, we'd have done much better at the 2002 World Cup had we not spent all that time worrying about David Beckham? Or Wayne Rooney at the 2006 World Cup? Maybe we should be proud of Trevor Brooking? Maybe it's the lazy approach to youth development in this country? Maybe it's the fact that the stadium is full of shite fans that go there just to see England? Or maybe it's that fucking shite band we should be proud of?

I don't dislike the England national team, but why should I take pride in my nationality? I did absolutely nothing to attain it, I was just lucky enough to be born here. I don't inherently love everything about this country just because I was born here.

I'm not English so my opinion may not carry much weight, but I don't have a problem with the English NT. I do however have a problem with the media storm created around them at every opportunity, especially in the run-up to major tournaments. Though I'm sure this has already been mentioned in this thread.
