    England National Team

    Head coach Fabio Capello
Asst coach Italo Galbiati and Franco Baldini
    Captain Rio Ferdinand
    Most caps Peter Shilton (125)
Top scorer Sir Bobby Charlton (49)
    Home stadium Wembley Stadium

We've got a qualifier against Wales coming up and Gerrard will be out.

I think we should do what Germany did, bring in alot of younger players and start playing them together as soon as possible so a few years down the line we can compete for the World Cup.

We don't need players like Lampard in the squad, they won't win us the Euro's because they'll be past it let alone 2014.

Gerrard could still be class in 2012 though, he's getting his groin sorted so hopefully he will be one of those who plays at his best until he's 34-35.

Also, if you're going to get rid of one old player, get rid of them all.

Can't just say, oh, this is a new younger revlotuion, and keep relying on 1 older player.

England will play the Netherlands in a friendly international at London's Wembley Stadium in February.

The Three Lions were originally scheduled to host the 2010 World Cup finalists in August but the game was postponed because of the London riots at the time.

The English FA has now announced that the clash between two of European football's heavyweights has been rescheduled and will go ahead on February 29, 2012 at the same venue.

"The FA can confirm England will face Holland at Wembley in their opening match of 2012," read a statement on the FA's official website.

    shifty

"The fixture, that was due to be played in August but was postponed just a day before, will now take place on Wednesday, 29 February, 2012."

The match will be important for both countries as they will be preparing for the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine next summer.

The Netherlands have been handed a tough draw as they have been pitted against Denmark, Germany and Portugal in Group B, while England will confront Ukraine, Sweden and France in Group D.

Fabio Capello has declared that he will pick Wayne Rooney for Euro 2012 even if his three-match suspension is not reduced, but he hopes the striker's appeal will be successful.

England discovered on Friday that they had been pitted in Group D for next summer's finals alongside host nation Ukraine, Swedenand France.

Rooney is set to miss the entire group campaign after being hit with a three-match ban by UEFA following his red card in the final qualifier against Montenegro.

The Football Association lodged an appeal and Rooney will learn next Thursday whether his sentence will be cut.

The 26-year-old will leave Manchester United's team hotel in Basel after their Champions League match in midweek to take the short trip to Nyon, where he will plead his case and hope UEFA's disciplinary chiefs look kindly on England.

Capello would like to have Rooney available for England's third and final group game, against Ukraine in Donetsk on 19th June, but plans to take him regardless of the outcome of the appeal.

"The appeal will be really important and I hope Rooney will be okay for the third," said Capello.

"I hope they understand our lawyer, what Rooney says and what I will say at the committee."

Asked directly whether he would take his star man anyway, the Italian's response was brief.

    "Yes," he said.

    Confident

Being in Group D offers the advantage of starting the tournament last, offering the potential for three extra days of rest that could prove vital.

Capello was happy with the draw and believes England can perform well on the European stage.

"I am not more confident," he said.

"I have always got confidence when I start. After the draw, I have confidence also.

"But when we arrived together before the World Cup and played those friendly games, I understood something wasn't good.

"The young players playing now will be more important with their energy but this will be a really tough tournament.

"Every game will be difficult because the level of European football is really high. Every team can beat the others.

    "But we will try."

There's not really any doubt he would go.

He's easily our best striker and IMO best player. Would be fucking foolish not to take him.

England could play a friendly against the Republic of Ireland after drawing up plans for two warm-up matches prior to Euro 2012.

Fabio Capello discovered on Friday that France, Sweden and co-hosts Ukraine will be the Three Lions' opponents in Group D.

Senior Football Association staff held a meeting immediately afterwards to thrash out the details, which will include resolving a travel issue given that Capello, like Holland and Germany, is happy to travel to the Ukraine from a base in Poland.

Acutely aware that his star men may be tired after an arduous season, Capello has vowed to learn a few lessons from the debacle that unfolded in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup.

That is likely to mean a reduction in preparation time ahead of the opening game against France on 11th June.

    No announcement

However, Club England managing director Adrian Bevingtonconfirmed on Saturday the Three Lions will play two friendlies at the end of the domestic season.

One match will be at home and one will be away, possibly against the Republic in a return to Dublin after the pair were not drawn together at Euro 2012.

England have not visited the Irish capital since 1995, when a friendly had to be abandoned after 27 minutes due to extensive trouble involving the visiting supporters.

However, there has been no official announcement on this.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed on Friday that England will face Holland at Wembley on 29th February.
