England could play a friendly against the Republic of Ireland after drawing up plans for two warm-up matches prior to Euro 2012.
Fabio Capello discovered on Friday that France, Sweden and co-hosts Ukraine will be the Three Lions' opponents in Group D.
Senior Football Association staff held a meeting immediately afterwards to thrash out the details, which will include resolving a travel issue given that Capello, like Holland and Germany, is happy to travel to the Ukraine from a base in Poland.
Acutely aware that his star men may be tired after an arduous season, Capello has vowed to learn a few lessons from the debacle that unfolded in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup.
That is likely to mean a reduction in preparation time ahead of the opening game against France on 11th June.
No announcementHowever, Club England managing director Adrian Bevingtonconfirmed on Saturday the Three Lions will play two friendlies at the end of the domestic season.
One match will be at home and one will be away, possibly against the Republic in a return to Dublin after the pair were not drawn together at Euro 2012.
England have not visited the Irish capital since 1995, when a friendly had to be abandoned after 27 minutes due to extensive trouble involving the visiting supporters.
However, there has been no official announcement on this.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed on Friday that England will face Holland at Wembley on 29th February.
