I'm sure they will, this is the FA. They would never charge people without evidence.Jordo wrote:Mc Babel wrote:I'll wait for the evidence.

That's if they ever release it.

Get fucking out of it. He's lived in Europe yes, but the only country that uses the term 'negro' in an offensive way is over here. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN SAY THAT.
Not to mention, Suarez has a record as long as your arm. Not a racist record, but still not a nice one.
Ah yes, so Suarez used a word in his native language, perfectly acceptable within his culture. However, this word sounds similar to the word 'negro' the Spanish word for black, which Britons stole as a racial term to describe black people.
How silly of Suarez, he should have studied the history of our language and ensured that no mix-ups like this could have happened.
Like I said. Hernandez used it, so did that Thiago from Barcelona. I duly expect them to see similar bans.

I also agree with scott. Don't want a racist at our club.
Suarez admitted he said negrito didn't he? A word that is always used in his home country, not meant to be offensive.
Do you think he meant to be friendly? In a match like that?
Not friendly, but whether it is meant offensively is a cultural issue. they are certainly more free with words there. One of their player's is nicknamed "el mono" It's a non-offensive term. If you said that here in English that's a ban and a fine.
At the same time he could easily have said it offensively thinking he'd get away with it due to the grey area in cultural differences.
Either way, i expect an appeal with a lot of evidence presented, buying us time to get at least one striker.

The standard has been set. Negrito is a racist term. Anyone that uses it should be banned.

Re: Suarez banned for eight games.
C'mon Dan, two players squared up to each other and one used a term that could be seen as racially derogatry to the other. You dont have to be an expert in pyschology to know that Suarez would use something to annoy Evra in that situation. It just wouldnt make sense for him to use it in any other way. People are getting too caught up in the translation of the word itself, its about the context its used in, all racism really revolves around the context.

The spanish don't give a shit about racism. And Hernandez's comments were in-house or he'd have a ban too.

Those rappers associate themselves with the black community or their struggles. Plus, it's rap. I doubt they go around the streets and yell out nigga to black people.

Ok. So if you are using the word positively it's not racist, negatively it's racist.
Makes no sense to me. It's either racist, or it's not.

Re: Suarez banned for eight games.
The way I see it, as racist as it sounds:
Suarez is playing in an English city in an English league, and is paid by an English club (albeit, run by Americans). Therefore, he should be expected to comply with English customs. If the FA lets him off now, what message does that send to Suarez? He can continue to use terms that are found racist in England, and get off scot-free.
However, this case loses credibility if John Terry is let off.

"LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations."

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.Scott wrote:http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/liverpool-fc-statement-8
Still Evra's fault though.

Re: Suarez banned for eight games.
He's been charged with abusing an opponent verbally, with reference to the opponent's race. Which is exactly what he has done, in my opinion. The ban needs shortening, though.Dan wrote:Sean wrote:C'mon Dan, two players squared up to each other and one used a term that could be seen as racially derogatry to the other. Re: Suarez banned for eight games.
Liverpool FC Statement:
Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.
We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.
We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.
The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.
LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.
It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.
Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.
He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.
It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.
It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.
We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult.

Exactly, its the same with all words, its about context. You can call your mate a wanker or cunt or something, and based on the context they take it as light hearted and a joke, however if it was used in anger or in a negative way, they're obviously going to react differently.
