That word is fairly common in Latin America so i'm pretty sure it was a cultural misunderstanding. Players in Mexico who have dark skin, but aren't black, are sometimes nicknamed 'negrito'. I can see where Suarez is coming from, but idk the context that he used the word in

Suarez was confronting Evra, and used a word that in Uruguay, yes, means something pally, but in England will be seen as offensive. It's only logical that they will assume that he meant it in a bad way, given they were confronting each other.

Not to mention, Suarez has a record as long as your arm. Not a racist record, but still not a nice one.
