No shame in losing a close battle against an equal team but losing to an inferior team when you are playing a solid 11 can backfire

Good teams may not care but great teams have the attitude that every competition is worth winning

That last line is a brilliant sentence.

Maybe not, but the CC is nothing that great. Did you really feel that much better a few years ago when you won the CC against Villa but didnt win the PL or CL?
Gave us the small consolation that we didn't have a trophy less season for the first time in 5 years.

Yea, if it was the final I'd care, I was properly gutted when Spurs beat us, but I bet if you were put out in the QF you wouldnt really have minded.

I cared when we embarrassed ourselves against West Ham last season.

Obviously not as much if it happened in another competition, but it still mattered.

Judging how top teams in England have treated the CC, Europa League, and FA Cup over the years I'd say that there are few great teams.

    Exactly. Laughing

A trophy's a trophy to me, however much people think teams/fans don't care.

I care whenever we lose, doesn't matter who it's against or what competition, still gets me down.

A Chelsea fan I know in school was constantly saying how they'll beat us in the league game the other week, went in on the Monday, no word of a lie he said "I don't really like football that much, I only care about it when we're doing good".

Scott wrote:If Liverpool had lost last night, I'd be pissed off and so would all the others. We'd be in the Liverpool thread bemoaning our misfortunes or something. The Arsenal fans last night were still discussing the match afterwards, some of them showing displeasure toward lacklustre performances from Chamakh, Gervinho or whoever. They clearly cared they were beaten. No-one wants to be beaten.

That's why it was a bit strange that last night, you and Luke acted like you didn't care. If it was just an act, fair enough, but if you ACTUALLY didn't care, then questions need to be asked of your support.

The team clearly cared, the fans at the stadium clearly cared, the manager clearly cared. Yet you and Luke 'didn't' ... ? Okay.

Offcoarse they care. Read some off their older posts where they were getting upset during pre-season games for the smallest of things Laughing

I would care more if we lost to Liverpool/City in the final, if we got there. As it's never nice to lose to your rivals, what ever competition.

I really am not one to say I don't care whenever we lose, I'm sure many of you have seen me throw a fit when we lose, but I honestly did not mind what happened in this game, if that makes me a shit fan then so be it.

I wouldn't mind if we got beat tonight, don't want to end up in a situation where we play Liverpool and they treat it like the Champions League Final, and Ferguson treats it like the Youth Cup Final. We'd never heard the end of it. We put out a Carling Cup standard side against them in the Premier League and they still haven't finished talking about what a great result it was when they cheated their way to a draw.

What made it worse was that that was the FA Cup.

It wasn't your reserves though. You had Rooney, Berbatov, Valencia, Giggs, Neville, Evans, Brown, Owen, Rafael, Carrick and would of had Vidic had he not got injured in the warm up. All of those are either first team regulars or experienced players.
