Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
I'm really not sure Grenade, I honestly have no idea how much money there is to be spent or how much Arsene would realistically spend (I'm presuming not a lot).
In terms of who I would like, and who we could get, I've always been a fan of Leighton Baines. He's solid both defensively and going forward, he's English too, which reduces the chance of him leaving us, but it does up his transfer fee.
As far as central midfielders go I think our front four would benefit from having someone who is comfortable breaking up play as well as looking to start attacks. We were strongly linked with M'Vila in the summer, and if Arsene truly wants to build a team capable of winning the league again, he is the sort of player we should be looking at. His price would be big, but with the money from Cesc and Nasri still around somewhere I'm sure we could get him if we truly wanted to.
A new winger? I wouldn't know where to begin if im honest. Ideally, Hazard but that just isn't going to happen. A player that I thought would always do well for us is Adam Johnson though. The amount of chances he creates for other players would keep in line with our attack, he also has the passing ability to fit in with Arsene's criteria, he can actually cross and is not afraid to shoot from distance.

Interesting. When did I ever say anything about Laurent being the weak point in the squad? Lets try to not make shit up, okay. Thanks.grenade187 wrote:I find it funny that with players like Santos, Walcott, Arteta etc starting at our club Arise singles out Koscielny (arguably our best defender this season) as the weak point in the squad

There really isn't a lot of players that can gel well in our Arsenal system and be a realistic transfer.
We're like an exclusive club with "high standards" yet not a lot of people want to join anyways.

Alex would be good but would you really class him as a realistic target ?Filippo Inzaghi wrote:Jordi Alba, Armero, Montolivo, Alexgrenade187 wrote:Stead which left back, winger, cm and cb would you sign ? (realistically).
Off top of my head i'd go for them.
A right sided winger would be better than Armero though but i can't think of anyone
Not an expert on Alba but don't Armero and him play the same roles
As for Rosicky he's still class. Made a brilliant pass today that should have led to a goal but RVP let us down with the finish

I just don't think you give Koscielny the credit he deserves. Admittedly, I had a problem with him at first, but he's started to win my confidence with some good performances.
I still ideally want another center back to partner Vermaelen in the future though.

I know but you're always slating Koscielny. Even when he's playing brilliantly you find something to say about him . Its almost like you're hating on him for some reason. The point is Koscielny is way out of the picture when you prioritize the problems with our current squad.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
He does need to tone it down a bit though. He will eventually cost us a lot of points with his antics if he carries on. I mean he should've been sent off against Chelsea and could've cost us a further goal while rushing out of his box and deciding to feint past an attacker.
Hopefully experience sorts out his decision making ability.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
I will be the first to admit I do not give him the credit he deserves. He has made tremendous strides from last season to this season, but there is just something about him that prevents me from seeing him as an Arsenal quality player. After having Keown, Adams, Campbell, Dixon, etc its hard to see Koscielny in the team sheet and be content.Steadman wrote:I know what you were doing.

I don't see him as one of the problems in our current team. Then again it also depends on which team shows up game to game because we can either be shit terrible or pretty good. I have yet to see a masterclass Arsenal match this season and that is mainly because of our personnel, but I do think Laurent has done a good job this season, but I would still like to see us sign a better partner for Thomas IF Per doesn't come good or if Thomas continues to get hurt.

Well Alex doesn't even make the bench at Chelsea AVB doesn't fancy him one bit so i reckon yeah. Alba and Armero could play the same roles but as I said nobody was coming to my head I was thinking of just putting Armero on the left wing.grenade187 wrote:Alex would be good but would you really class him as a realistic target ?Filippo Inzaghi wrote:Jordi Alba, Armero, Montolivo, Alex

I reckon we will come 1/2 places below Chelsea this season. It would be stupid for AVB to strengthen one of his main league rival when other clubs like Bayern (who are probably willing to pay more) are after Alex. Saying that I would still love him at AFC.

Interview with a living legend.
For the money they are paying to get him and the money he is supposedly going to be making, I don't see how they will be able to afford signing anyone. You have to be fucking kidding me, £53m for a teenager and they are supposedly paying him £250,000/week. I ain't mad at him for getting his money, but the pressure he will be under is going to be sick.
