Re: Gareth Bale
Finally no one can deny that Bale is WORLD CLASS.
He's scored a hattrick at the San Siro against the Champions of Europe.....he's such a fantastic player and he carried Spurs! Such a shame he couldn't grab a 4th...
Spurs are going to be receiving bids from all the top teams.

I wouldn't say world class yet but he is not far.

I will give credit where it's due, but Bale is not world class...yet. He's a fantastic player though...very good play from him.

Why not? He can't do any more really.....he was running all over the pitch all game, taking on some of the most experienced and top quality defenders and Julio Cesar and slaughtering them.....and chasing after balls and winning tackles.
The only thing he can do is keep doing what he's doing...and he's been on this kind of form since midway into last season.
Real Madrid £40m bid me thinks....wouldn't take it though.

Nicklas Bendtner had a good run of form and scored 11 goals in 13 games, does that make him world class?

Re: Gareth Bale
Many players people will think are "average" in Serie A do the kind of stuff Bale does all the time, if he was somewhere like in Italy or Spain he won't get the attention like he is in England. No doubt he's a good player, but he hasn't really done all that to be labeled as an elite player.Luxz0rz wrote:Bergkamp wrote:I wouldn't say world class yet but he is not far.

One of the star players in the Premier league for sure now.
Rather take him over Arshavin . Infact I dont think theres a left sided midfeilder in the world better than him.

Re: Gareth Bale
How did I know that Bale is world class threads would pop up. One performance does not make you world class suddenly.
At best Bale is a good player and an up and coming young talent, but nothing more.

If he carries on like this, he will be counted at World Class Great tactics by Harry to put him in LM

He's not world class and never will be. Simple fact being, he's Welsh. If he was born in England though, then you can forget about Messi

I under-stand you may hate Spurs and their players like me as an Arsenal fan. But credit where credit is due Bale was quite frankly BRILLIANT last season you cannot refute that. I think he is world class because I dont think theres a player in the world that can play left midfeild better than him.

Re: Gareth Bale
World class? No. If I remember correctly he started coming into his own in the 2nd half of last season. It's only now that he is consistently putting in good performances. Keep this up for the whole season and I'll graduate him to quality player. Right now he's just extremely good.
I will say he is probably the most in-form left winger in Europe atm.

I have seen him on numerous occasions, but tonight was the best game he has ever had and none of his games last year was on this level. Bale did nothing last season to declare he is a world class talent. If you are a Tottenham supporter I would expect you to defend your players, but I disagree HEAVILY with the assessment that Bale is world class because he isn't.

I don't like Tottenham, but I will recognize talent when its their regardless of the team. Gareth Bale was good last season, but he was not the best left sided player by any means. Florent Malouda was a lot better than Bale all season long. When healthy, Arjen Robben was infinitely better than Bale also. Bale and world class should NOT be used in the same sentence because he is not world class.
As I have said many times, too many people throw around the classification of world class. Bale is a good player and nothing more.
In terms of players in the world that are better than him on the left side:
Cristiano Ronaldo, Robben, Ribery (either footed), Malouda, and when healthy, albeit a rarity, I would take Vicente over Bale also. Juan Manuel Mata is a lot better than Bale also.
Those are just a few that are better than Bale.

Arise I'm hovering over the ban button.
Yes I know this is basically a useless statement towards Bale performance tonight but I have to watch the game at x6 speed

Re: Gareth Bale
How long does it take to be considered world class? On current form he is world class. No doubt about it. He's scored goals past Arsenal, Chelsea and now a hat-trick at the San Siro. so he's not just doing it against lesser clubs. He proved it in the other Champions League games too, and for Wales on a number of occassions.
I dont get why he isn't considered world class just because he has only been doing it for about a year. If you are world class quality then you are world class. There's no set time you have to perform for to be considered world class. Was Messi not world class in his early days either?

Exactly. Hes isnt world class yet. He wouldnt walk into a lot of teams. Hes good and getting better but hes nowhere near the likes of Robben, Ronaldo & Malouda. World class is thrown around too much and Bale isnt there yet

You don't become world class based on a run of games. Just because you have scored goals against Arsenal, Chelsea and Inter Milan doesn't make you world class. Lesser players have scored goals on Arsenal, Chelsea, and Inter Milan through out history.
You can't even compare Messi's performances to Bale's performances. You can't even mention Bale in the same breath as Messi.
Their is not time requirement to becoming world class, that much you are right about, however Bale is NOT world class. If he is world class in your opinion that is fine because it is your opinion, but based in reality he isn't anywhere near being world class.
Hell at one time Francis Jeffers and Royston Drenthe had all of Europe drooling and talks of them being world class happened just like what is happening now with Bale's single performance.
