Happy with the win, great to see Gerrard back and Bellamy looks decent. Enjoyed watching Coates too, did everything right in my opinion besides that dodgy ball. Going to go off for while though because I have a feeling people are just going to find something to moan at and make everything feel depressing, nobody will look at the good things like the fact we're through to the next round or that Stevies back.
Anyway 1-2 to us, I'm happy.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Gerrard did well considering he hasn't got a groin .
Anyway, decent game. Great first half, poor second half. Guess it's down to fatigue from some players such as Suarez and Lucas though. Kuyt should be starting every game, don't even care. Carroll's going to find it hard breaking into the first team now. I wish we'd stop conceding penalties too .
Got the scoreline and one of the scorers right .

What a shit second half compared to the first half. glad Gerrard came on, looked composed and had the confidence to do that nice little backheel pass too. It just feels different when he's on the pitch, a presence about him. He's a huge, huge player.
Glad we're through, here's hoping for an easy home game for the next round.

Agree with that apart from Coates he had a poor game, Carra moped up everything but it's his first under pressure with a changed side so no worries yet.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Bellamy was brilliant, proving that he should be starting for this team. His movement and pace sets him apart from other players, him, Kuyt and Suárez look great together and if I'm being honest, Carroll shouldn't be anywhere near this team at the moment. Made up Stevie's back, let's hope the groin holds up.
Carragher was much better tonight, Coates was ok, looked a bit shaky though, Kelly looked slow, but understandable, Robinson was sound. 4th round, that'll do me.

That dodgy pass did stand out, and there was a sloppy clearance. But all in all, Coates does look the part. Gives us vital aerial presence when defending set-pieces.

Fair enough, but I didn't see a thing wrong with Coates. Watched him closely and I like him, looks powerful in the air.SpiritOfShankly wrote:Jord wrote:Happy with the win, great to see Gerrard back and Bellamy looks decent. This Lucas/Spearing partnership intrigues me though. When Gerrard came on it turned very much in a 4-3-3.

Bellamy bossed the game from start to finish. His work rate and link up with Suarez was quality as well. Needs to be a starter for us.

Bellamy looked very good, not surprised by it either, he's got a lot to offer.

Also, Suárez is a cunt who needs to work on his finishing.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Spearing definitely deserves to be starting ahead of Henderson if that is the way Kenny is going to play our midfield. Jay had to prove himself again (which he did) whereas Henderson looks out of his depth atm. Gutted to see him wear the #14 shirt though

Bellamy has now actually proved he deserves to start instead of Carroll at the moment, hopefully Kenny sees this. Great game yesterday and looked good against Stoke.

Suarez
Downing - Bellamy - Kuyt
Lucas - Gerrard
Enrique - Skrtel - Coates - Kelly
Reina
Downing - Bellamy - Kuyt

I want to see that against Wolves, but I know Gerrard probably won't start, and Carragher probably will. Think Skrtel will start ahead of Coates too and Henderson may be chosen instead of Kuyt.
Bellamy has to start ahead of Carroll.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Our passing game was so much better with Kuyt in the team and that was mainly down to how him and Suarez link up. Bellamy seems to have a good understand with Suarez too. Would definitely like to see boht Kuyt and Bellamy in side against Wolves.
My lineup would be the same as yours Scott, but obviously we have to be realistic, Gerrard won't start and Carragher won't be benched. I'd like to see Lucas and Spearing again.
