Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has opined that the Bundesliga is Europe's second-best domestic league.

"We are currently number two behind Spain," he told Bild am Sonntag. "Italy, we have long left behind us; England, we are just about to leave behind."

"Based on the full breadth, I would consider the Bundesliga even today as the strongest league in the world."

Its up there in terms of entertainment tbh, but its no Premiership.

La Liga is the best league in the world, quality wise.

Don't know, not sure why people get so worked up about it though. Who cares where the PL is ranked, doesn't change how much you enjoy it.

I agree. A lot better than the boring and predictable Premiership and La Liga.

I don't know about the Budesliga being better than the PL, but I agree that the PL is falling behind and the Bundesliga is on the rise.

How's the Premier league falling behind exactly?

Financially they are one of the best leagues with no clubs in debt etc.. But quality wise they aren't, I would put them along side Seria A, maybe just behind basing it on player quality.

Bundesliga is better for the entertainment and atmosphere though England can only dream of having atmospheres like their league .

Still doesn't mean the PL is falling behind? When was the last time a German side won the competition?

English sides are always there and about when it comes to the latter stages of the competition.

As well, not many top players move to the Budesliga either, usually the other way round and they leave.

Oh, yea comparing it to La Liga is a different matter. Probably goes a bit like like quality wise: La Liga>Premier league>Seria A>Budesliga>French ligue 1

Bundesliga always think they're good, no they're not, they play nice football but still don't have the ability to attract big stars, Ribery and Robben are the only foreign ones, and imo Bundesliga is nice to watch but still behind Serie A.

This is like when geeks copy something the cool kids do, and even do it better, but nobody cares because they're geeks.

It doesn't matter how well run it is, how competitive or whatever. It will never have the market appeal La Liga or the Prem has, and Bayern are miles behind teams like Barca, Real, Man U in terms of marketing.

They can't attract massive stars and half the top Germans will leave for La Liga or England.

Maybe the football might not be the best in Europe I am fairly sure that the atmosphere and entertainment factor is best in Germany. They have the largest stadiums, they always seem to be full and have the world's best attendance figures. Also you can consider the fact they still have standing areas for league play. The football might 3rd to 4th best but I rank them #1 in every other category. Average that all out and it possibly could rank as 2nd best overall.
