I actually quite like the idea
The Europa League is shit. Would also make teams like Liverpool and Newcastle respect the competition.
Plus it would make the PL more competitive. Most teams usually have nothing to play for in the League and we get the same bunch of teams qualifying for Europe every year. This format would give the likes of West Brom and Fulham more of an incentive towards the end of the season, rather than just settling for their annual mid table finish

A change would be good for it but i woudn't remove it all together and do that, would be way too many teams.

No thanks. Mid-table teams shouldn't be in the Champions League.

It may help the premier league, but it would ruin a lot of the appeal of the champions league.

It's bad and good.
Teams without a big fanbase would get more coverage but they would get screwed over in the long run. (money would suck and no real chance of winning).
It would be better for me as a liverpool fan but as a football fan. i would hate this idea.

Fucking horrific Idea.
If that happens, It will mark the end of european football all together.

Seriously anyone you thinks this is a idea should fuck off and die in a ditch.
The Champions League is has been made shitter already enough as it is.
Its not really the champions league its just a compitition between different nations teams, not realy a CHAMPIONS league, key word champions.
They should scrap the current format and make the Champions league for Champions only and increase the size of the Europa league so leagues runners up get into instead of going into the champions league.

That's stupid. Uefa would lose a lot of money if Man United, Barcelona etc wouldn't play. If a team like Fulham have a big chance at playing in the Champions League it wouldn't be as exciting.Uncle John from Jamaica wrote:Kuled wrote:No thanks. Mid-table teams shouldn't be in the Champions League.

And they would make a lot of money by doubling the size.

Not sure if its good or bad, it would only add another set of play-offs if they stick with the format (play it even earlier than feb or semi's closer to final) however the idea of having more than 4 teams from the top leagues isn't okay, i'd rather only see the 2 best from the top leagues at very most 3 if they have the CL champion.

Because everyone in the Champions League now has a great chance of winning.Childish Logic wrote:It's bad and good.

There are 20 teams in the league. 20 -10 = 10. Champions league extended to 7 spots. Interesting logic there.
Ok so if this is going to happen wont the prize money go down to cater to more teams?

Ayvee will like this idea, might see Inverness in The Champions League next season.

My only gripe is that it kind of takes the glamour out of the Champions League.

I was speaking to someone about this earlier. It would be amazing to see them in the CL. Bias aside though, I'm not sure it's such a great idea for European football.Templeton7|RFC wrote:Ayvee will like this idea, might see Inverness in The Champions League next season.

Would be a shame if the EL was dropped. A wonderful distraction from the monotony of the Champions League.

I don't like this idea. It would take the magic out of competing in the Champions League. However, from a financial point of view, it would be brilliant. The money you make from playing in the Champions League should enable teams like Newcastle, Everton and West Brom (currently) to compete at a higher level every season.

So this years champions league would have no Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Chelsea, Milan, Benfica, PSG etc and would instead be filled up with wank teams that won the estonian league and the likes, brilliant idea, would really increase the value of the champions league. Its like saying swansea shouldnt be in the ENGLISH premier league hurr durr it's a stupid idea where the only logic behind it is the name which is totally irrelevent.

It shouldn't have any more then it has now, If it does it will just be shit.
Maybe not just champions, But the top 2 maybe. Would make it a much more exciting competition and make league competitions more exciting too.
To be honest they are a welsh too sooooooooooooo.

Yeah, for some reason people really take the competition name too literally.Dr. Ján Ĩtor wrote:20Legend wrote:Seriously anyone you thinks this is a idea should fuck off and die in a ditch.

Why call it the Champions League if its not a league for champions ? Little misleading.
But main point should be how it was before like in this year.

NOOOO.
The CL is a decent size as is, I would probably want it to be smaller, but the Group stage encompassing much of the fall and KO rounds in the spring is a decent structure. Adding more teams and expanding the group stage would just water it down.
