A more direct comparison would be to compare two wingers, Lionel Messi for example, was 3 months younger than Walcott is now two years ago, and everyone expected him to be the finished article. As it happened he went on to score 38 goals and make 18 assists. 4 years ago Cristiano Ronaldo was 11 months younger than Walcott is now, and was expected to be the finished article. He went on to score 23 goals and make a similar amount of goals, the next year he scored over 40 goals and won the Ballon d'Or.
