Him being a striker has nothing to do with how shit he is at passing. Theo's short game is fucking terrible, and his crossing is atrocious. I understand he is "supposedly" a striker, but he is amazingly terrible at things a winger/forward does and that has been his position for quite some time.
striker can have these things but when arsenal signed him he was a striker and wasnt great at these things so no idea why wenger plays him wide. just for his pace probably, so its unfair to compare him to chamberlain(sp?)

Campbell at £1m is worth a punt in my opinion even if he doesn't get a work permit this year probably still make profit on him if it doesn't work aswell if it does its all cool.

I don't see why people can be negative, we snapped up the best English youngster available for acquisition, he's a good player and will only get better. He might even make a difference this season, I mean it's not like it's out of the ordinary.
Oh yeah and lads, mind if I ask a favour?
My mate is such a rapper wannabe and he entered a competition, could you guys vote for him?

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Well ideally we need to bring in a Centre Back, Left back, Central midfielder and a Striker that is if we kept hold of all our players at this moment in time except for the departing ones such as Bendtner. Mertesacker for 7 million is a steal, Enrique for 6 million i highly doubt we would be able to get Baines, I wouldn't mind loaning in a midfielder such as Parker for the season obviously there was talks of a Chelsea loan move but i would happily bring him in for a year with Denilson gone, Diaby injured. Striker is a hard one as there isn't many available now I was hoping we would of made a move for someone like Milito earlier in the window but that is definetly dead in the water after Eto'o could possibly be moving. The obvious one we should of sealed was the Mata deal regardless of Nasri & Fabregas staying.grenade187 wrote:Fillipo who would be your ideal realistic signings ?

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
He has been trained at one of the best clubs in the world, with top facilities and coaches for the past 5 years. He has been occupying our right wing spot in the first team regularly in each of those 5 years, to use the excuse that he is a striker is nonsense.ViVaRooney wrote:thats cause Walcott is a striker ffs
He has not developed as expected, by now he should have shown vast improvements in his technical abilities, this is not the case with him. Injuries have hindered him, but he has played 30+ games in each of his last four seasons, so it's not like he isn't seeing any game time.

Walcott's crossing isn't that bad, but that fact he can't pass is a true one.
Rooney is a striker, van Persie is a striker, they're both great passers.

True, but players tend to improve in things that their position requires and Theo has actually gotten worse at passing it seems. He has gotten better at some things, but is still shit at moving the ball from himself to another at short to medium distances.

I see Walcott as a poacher, it's unfair to compare him to complete strikers like Rooney and van Persie, they pretty much have every every aspect of being a forward player covered. By playing Walcott as a poacher though, you will pretty much nullify his best and most dangerous ability, which is his speed, considering we don't play our forwards as poachers.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Walcott is a good player, he's very quick and that is very useful in football, he's a good finisher and he's got a decent cross, he's not a very special dribbler nor is he creative, but he gets the job done and he's still young.

Re: Official Arsenal FC Thread
Walcott does well on the right, playing tucked in and scoring goals and getting some assists too, adds directness to our play.

He should be doubling that. Appalling football brain if someone more respected than Chris Waddle said it then more people would notice.

You're happy we didn't spend money on the best winger to come out of Argentina in two years. Then a player that basically has a goal ratio of 1.0 at every youth level and is the most talented 19 year old striker in the world
*insert facepalm*

I've thought that about Walcott for years, quick, decent control, but apart from that he's not got much. Good as a substitute but he's not a player I'd ever like to see at United in a starting role.

Decent finisher one on one as well, but I agree, should be nowhere near a starting spot for a top club. If he wasn't lightning quick we would not have signed him.ResurrectionRooney wrote:I've thought that about Walcott for years, quick, decent control, but apart from that he's not got much. Those statements are your opinion and I don't agree with either one of them. Alvarez doesn't impress me with what I have seen of him and neither does Campbell for that matter.

For some odd reasons many Arsenal supporters think he would suddenly be a beast playing striker. People forget he is clumsy on the ball, his finish is not all that great. People keep saying he is a good finishing, but they fail to mention he misses just as many if not more than he makes. That is not a trait you want a striker to have. Look at Bendtner.

Wenger seems to have a lot of enemies over in France, Nasri's agent hates him and is trying to get revenge. Laurent Blanc hates him too I guess but there are more...
