It's called negotiating, you want to pay as low a price as possible. Modric is worth no more then 35m.

to be fair thats got nothing to do with it. spurs dont really want to sell to a rival club, he's on a long contract and easily one of their best players. Of course you're gonna bump the price up! I personally don't think ronaldo was worth 80 big ones but we weren't going to sell unless a stupid offer came in.
