I'm reading a few stories on this Essien injury, talking about his ligament being fucked, and half the comments seem to be from fans of United, Arsenal etc. saying 'What a shame' and 'I hope he recovers'. I know it's seen as the honourable thing to do and everything, but is that just people trying to act noble or do people actually think like that?

The way I see it, I don't really give a fuck about Michael Essien's life or his happiness, I just see him as the good footballer who could help stop Man Utd from winning the Premier League, which is something I want to happen. I don't wish for him to suffer or anything, but I have no real connection to him, no more than anyone else who's suffering in the world, and there are a lot worse things happening to people than missing a season a football. I look at news of his injury and my first thought it that it hurts Chelsea's chances of winning the Premier League, which from my point of view is a good thing.

I'm not saying I wish injuries on players, but this being sad about players from your rivals getting injured, it's all a façade isn't it?

Completely depends on who the player is.

I don't have a problem with Essien, he was a top class player who's been ruined by injuries recently which is a real shame.

    When a Scunthorpe/Sheff Utd/Leeds/Arsenal/Sunderland player gets injured I laugh.

Then I think about it a bit more.

    And laugh even harder.

I don't mind Essien so I do feel for him. If Ashley Cole's career was ended because his arse hole was left gaping wide open from rape, then I'd laugh.

    If i'm honest.

The only Arsenal players I want to suffer serious injuries are Nasri, Fabregas and Bendtner. The first 2 acted like proper nobs when they played us, the last one got Brown sacked.

I'm not talking about enjoying injuries for sadistic reasons, I'm talking about injuries which improve your own team's chances. When a Liverpool player gets injured I don't really give a fuck, when Gerrard gets injured I don't see that as a good thing because they haven't posed a realistic title threat for nearly 10 years, so it doesn't really effect me. If we suffered a shitload of injuries though and Liverpool somehow manager to pose a threat to us, then I would be pleased if their top players got injured.

    Now I see.

Of course yes, if we'e going to play United and Rooney is injured or Chelsea and Drogba is injured I feel confident of 3 points.

But with Essien it isn't just a small hamstring injury which could rule him out for a few weeks. This is a man's career.

As a football fan I like to see the best football. I don't like seeing good players get injured for selfish reasons, because I want to see them play myself. I wouldn't want a lower quality of football just to see my team do better.

It's not his career, 'career threatening injury' is just media bullshit for an injury which keeps a player out for a few months. None of them ever actually end a player's career unless he's retiring soon anyway.

I care when Arsenal players get hurt. When Ramsey got massacred that one season I felt bad. When RVP gets hurt I wish he would get better because I'd rather beat the full strength Arsenal side then a side with backups for rivalry sake.
