The people. Which is why we have certain states allow the death penalty. Who are you to define execution as cruel punishment?
How can you honestly say depriving someone of their life, considering there is "legally" nothing afterwards, as the state and church are separate?

Nothing, the point is, if there is nothing after death, then death would be the most cruel and unusual of all punishments, don't you agree?
