Redknapp Stand Trial for Tax Evasion Empty Redknapp Stand Trial for Tax Evasion

Post by Laurencio Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:19 am

As most of you already know Redknapp is currently standing trial for tax evasion. So far the highlights have been a juror named Peter Crouch, and a lunch break before they start the opening statements.

The first charge alleges that, between 1 April 2002 and 28 November 2007, Mandaric paid £93,100 into a bank account held by Redknapp in Monaco, to avoid paying income tax and National Insurance.

The second charge for the same offence relates to a sum of £96,300 allegedly paid by Mandaric to the same account between 1 May 2004 and 28 November 2007. Mandaric is currently chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, having previously worked at Leicester City.

How sad would it be for Spurs if their manager, the man who is taking them to a title challenge, goes to prision Neutral

Before the game yesterday then interviewed a fan on the big screen and asked him what he thought about the game live. He said "We're going to score 3 and Redknapp is going to get 3 years off the judge." They cut him off fairly quickly. Laughing

Redknapp opened an account in Monaco, not in the name of 'Harry Redknapp' but 'Rosie 47'. Harry Redknapp's dog and his Date of Birth.

Hopefully it's just him having to pay it back, or a suspended sentence to be served. Thankfully it's happening after the City game though as this would've disrupted the build-up to that majorly. Whatever he did in the past at Pompey doesn't change the fact he's done brilliantly at Tottenham since he came in. If he is guilty then the FA won't touch him, which means hopefully Levy keeps him and we have a stable squad and manager for the future.

"They're a triffic bunch, this jury, the chairman's phoned me up and asked me about 'em, and I've said I'd love to 'ave 'em 'ere, you know, who wouldn't, every manager would love a jury like this you know, they're a top top jury, but you know, it's up to the chairman really, you know, I'm not really involved, if the chairman wants to do something then you know maybe, but you know you never know you know."
